AvaiIabIe on my sh⁰p NOW!!1!111!!! 🦂
The adventures of my Alocasia Black Velvet (I believe that's the correct identification, it was just labeled as an Alocasia)
I scooped her up from a big box store although I can't remember with one. The first picture is of when I took her home. Many leaves! The only damage I noted at the time was the slit through one of the large leaves and what was at the time one of those brown spots. The new leaf that was opening though ended up opening as the bottom right photo in the first collage: lots of spots. I wasn't entirely sure what it meant and didn't worry about any of it until.....the spots began spreading to other leaves!
By the time I decided to either save or chuck (depending on if it was a fixable issue or something much deeper), it had spread to nearly every leaf if even just at the bottom point of the leaf. Everything I looked up told me it was bacterial without offering any real solution. The only ones I read said to toss it.
Well, I didn't want to do that and I'm stubborn, so I am trying something else! From what I could observe, the spots on the tips of the leaves very well could have gotten it from overlapping and laying on one of the spots. I wasn't super sure about the spots that were further into the leaf. I ended up cutting off 5 leaves near the trunk where they branched off. The remaining large leaves that had browning on the tips, I cut it off. The last collage shows it what she looks like now. There are still brown specs on one of the large leaves; some cinnamon got on her leaf when I was sprinkling some on the soil 😅
This is what I'm left with! She is still beautiful with large leaves. I'm going to continue to keep a close eye out for any return of the issue or signs for any further issues ☺️

Covid 19 wasn't enough
Thinking out loud about the world around us. Along with conspiracy theories and looking through different lenses.
Covid 19 wasn't enough so besides the train derailments contaminating water, factories burning down they now invented a fungal that is not curable by antibiotics or any kind of medication.
The fungal is called Candida auris or C. Auris. They are saying it is a yeast type of fungus that is spreading through health care facilities.
Apparently it was only in 3 states back in 2016 but has spread to 20-27 states in 2022 but now is in 30 states.
Why are they just now sharing this? Why are they just now talking about it now that the Covid has died down and no longer causing a panic?
This is probably to lead to another panic and pandemic as if the train derailments, the factories burning down and everything else going on in the world is not enough.
Crackle
Warnings: sickfic (maybe, idk what caused Whumpee’s pneumonia--which is what this is y’all if you didn’t know lol)
Whumpee looked dead. They were deathly pale, barely a shade darker than the sheets in the tiny bed Caretaker had hastily made up for them. Whumpee’s hair was plastered to their forehead with sweat, the sheets soaked with the sweat as well. From a distance the only thing that told Caretaker that Whumpee was still alive was the intermittent rattling wheeze of breaths that wracked Whumpee’s body.
Caretaker sat back down next to Whumpee, depositing the pile of cool cloths on the pillow next to Whumpee. Whumpee was radiating an impossible amount of heat. They were burning up. Caretaker laid a cloth across their forehead and stroked their cheek. Whumpee didn’t stir, but continued to take those rattling breaths.
Caretaker pulled the thin sheet off Whumpee. They apologized to Whumpee as they lifted Whumpee’s shirt. They needed to hear better. Caretaker placed their ear to Whumpee’s chest and listened carefully. They prayed they wouldn’t hear anything. That Whumpee was just sick and needed to sleep it off. Their heart sank as they heard the loud crackle in Whumpee’s lungs.
