2:15 A.M Ramshackle Dorm
(I keep adding on 😣. The brainrot will wear off eventually but man…)
[This is an continuation of an AU I thought up where Yuu comes from the Epithet Erased world and has the epithet of PIN. They can pin things in place basically suspending the thing in time. After the last post. I’m not a writer and have never written anything but I’m bored at school and need something to do.]
Yuu’s body jolted awake. They quickly looked up to the clock while rubbing their tired eyes. 2:15 A.M, Yuu sighed into the blanket as Grim’s snoring filled the room. They didn’t remember their dream in full, only a sensation of panic and loss. It was probably another dream of their time after the incident. They feel so disconnected with their old life, one second you’re scared and alone waiting for updates on her condition and dealing with the start of school. The next you’re in a wonder world with actual TV magic. Not that your world was too far off.
Yuu pushes the blankets to the side onto Grim as his snores become muttering. Yuu face changes to something close to endearment. Their not exactly “friends” with the little thing but it’s not to far off. If only making friends in their world was as easy as almost dying to a giant mine dwelling monster. Yuu sighed looking back at the memory, their arms were a little heavy and their head had a mild ache growing near the back due to the excessive use of their epithet. They quietly tip toed to the door making sure not to wake the sleeping..cat? Though they quickly realized not making noise on the old rotten floor boards was an impossible task, good thing Grim was a heavy sleeper.
Yuu walked down the stairs to see the ground considerably drier than before, the buckets were still littering the floor, fallen after they had to focus on restraining the monster, small drops of water still hung from the ceiling ready to fall and once again re-dampen the old floor. They decided to get it over with and walked over picking every bucket up. They didn’t have a flying companion to get the buckets up high with ease at the moment so they settled for a chair. The buckets were placed over the spots with more leakage and as Yuu let go of them they froze in time. Pinned to the ceiling as drops of water fell into them, reverberating in the quiet dorm. They sighed at the work and moved the chair back to its original spot. Looking around they got the same feeling they had from the dream. A strange sense of loneliness and confusion. They shook their head trying to move on from the foggy dream, walking to the kitchen they opened the fridge to see…nothing. Right…new place. Yuu decides to take the trek over to the cafeteria kitchen and maybe steal something to eat. Not that they were that hungry, maybe they just wanted to walk.
The walk to the kitchen cleared Yuu’s mind. The sights on campus were beautiful and the chilly air oddly soothed their headache. The kitchen itself made Yuu feel warm, it reminded them of when she would show them how to make cookies. Theirs didn’t turn out so good but hey it was a first attempt and it was fun just talking with her. Yuu looked around in search of food and found some sandwich ingredients, not their favorite but it would do. With their epithet they never had to worry about anything hitting the kitchen floor, they flung the bread high into the air the wrapped loaf flinging across the kitchen almost touching the ceiling before falling down vertically toward the floor. Just as it hit the midway point of the kitchen it froze in place. This continued for a few minutes as different ingredients were flung across the room before being pinned in place. Eventually Yuu got up and grabbed each piece setting them down along the counter neatly. After putting together the sandwich they put the various ingredients back and grabbed a plate to put the sandwich on.
The trek back to ramshackle with a sandwich they didn’t think they could even finish was a little less calming. A bubbling feeling of sadness was lying beneath a sea of apathy. Yuu didn’t want to feel sad right now, that could wait til they get back home… As they approached the rundown dorm they saw a flick of blue down the near the porch. Grim? Yuu started to walk faster towards the blue flickers adorning the dark setting. The blue glow then seemed to notice Yuu and turned into some small flames as the figure started to wave its hands in the air, as I it were angry. Eventually Yuu made out the face of Grim, they walked a little faster towards the beast.
Yuu: I thought you were asleep?
Grim: I was! But I woke up when I fell out of the bed. What are YOU doing out so late?!
Yuu: I was hungry…
Yuu didn’t know why the little monster was so offended to them this was nothing but a small late night walk.
Grim: W..well don’t do that again without telling me!
Yuu’s mind stopped…did Grim actually care about them??
Yuu: …Grim…were you…actually worried about me?
Grim: N..no! I just wanted to make sure my henchmen wasn’t in any danger. It would be SUPER embarrassing if someone under MY care was hurt. Nothing to do with you personally OK!
Amidst the raving about safety from the fire breathing cat. Yuu could only smile, a real genuine smile. This cats a bad liar. Yuu’s smile then became a little bit bigger and eventually turned into a light chuckle. Grim froze mid raving and stared. Was this the first time he heard a genuine laugh come out of Yuu? Grim started to fake cough as Yuu’s chuckle morphed into a somewhat solemn expression.
Yuu: I was just…a little sad, Y’know? I’m far from home, and kinda lonely, yada yada. Nothing too big I’ll find my way back eventually.
Yuu slid down onto the porch, their legs resting on the stairs. Also a sandwich on their lap…it’s gotten cold.
Grim stared at Yuu for a long second
Grim: W..well… If you ever want to talk about it! Y…you could talk to me. NOT THAT I CARE! It’s just that if my henchman isn’t feeling up to form I’ll suffer too. S…so I’m doing this for me!
Yuu watched as the tsundere cat floated down to the porch and rest next to them. Their flames dimming down but still emitting a little heat, warming the night air. Yuu smiled lightly and put the plate down in the middle of the two.
Yuu: Thanks…If you want some food then you can have some. It’s a cold but I don’t think I can finish it myself
Grim: We’ll it’s a henchmen’s job to make food for their leader! Let’s dig in!
Yuu and Grim shared the cold sandwich while starring at the stars. When it was finished Yuu realized how tired they were.
Yuu: We should head in for the night. Get some rest for tomorrow.
Grim: YUP! Tomorrows the day I finally get to live out my dream!
But Yuu didn’t move, and neither did Grim. Yuu continued to stare at the sky. Before Yuu could even process it, Grim walked over and slunk into their lap, purring very softly. Yuu’s confused face quickly turned to a warm smile as they began stroking the cats back. Eventually the world started to grow fuzzy and their eyelids shut.
They woke up not 15 minutes later to see a snoring cat on their lap. They needed to get back inside. Yuu slowly grabbed Grim and held him like they would a cat before getting up. Their weighed down legs a little numb from the creatures added on weight. They slowly walked back through the door the creaking of the floor boards making Grim stir a little. Finding their way back to the room they lay down the sleeping cat gently. They sighed at the hard work and went to fall back asleep next to the creature. As they lay down in bed they realized the sinking feeling in their chest was gone. They smiled lightly to themselves and laid down in the semi-comfy mattress. Ready for the new day ahead.
( It’s bad but I wanted a comfy moment to make me feel better :)
