Ridiculous thing I thought of on my own that’s actually helped me sleep: wearing my plush robe backwards.
I don’t sleep in shirts because normal sleeves, during the course of nighttime wiggling, having an obnoxiously high chance of tightening around my armpit and making me wake up with pins-and-needles or full on completely limp arm. So I usually sleep topless. Unfortunately that means the top of my chest and shoulders can get cold depending on how I kick the blankets around.
I bought a soft, warm bathrobe/dressing gown over a year ago to help me get out of bed in the mornings by providing me with something I could throw on to Be Warm and Covered while making coffee. Sometimes I’d put it on at night too, when I was winding down for the evening, and occasionally fell asleep in it. The sleeves are loose enough that they don’t cut off circulation. But being a robe, it opens in the front, so even with warm shoulders I’d still maybe wind up with cold chest.
Part of the advice for helping me sleep better was to increase differences between Awake Time and Sleep Time. No reading/knitting/worrying in bed (get up and go worry somewhere else). Try to be more physically active during the day even if it means pushing through the Tired. Do more things in parts of the house other than my bedroom.
I figured I don’t wear my robe backwards while I’m up, since I want to be able to adjust it and have the pockets in the right place, I basically wear it like a big cardigan. So if I’m wearing it in bed, maybe having it on backwards would add that extra bit of difference so it wouldn’t feel like wearing Awake Clothes in bed?
It’s...actually helping. Wearing what’s basically a plush blanket over my chest but with sleeves so it stays put is keeping my chest warm, which means I’m waking up from Being Too Cold less often. It feels silly but like, it’s working.
