It made me feel like I wanna work on this idea and... seems it's gonna be complete AU with really fel pets! X) You know how it happens. There is one old dog, pet of all family, adopted by parents, but child desperately wants his own pet! And he brings every flea-bitten friend from outside, asking for let it stay. Spoiler: yep, they kept Sha in the end. Oh, those Hellscreams. Dedicated to bro and my pets!

Steve was used to everyone cowering. He was so used to it, and though it was pleasing on some levels, he really preferred when people he had to deal with had actual spines. That way if he had to associate with them, he at least knew they could stand up to what he had to say. 

Lately he’d been just plain irritable. Cowering, simpering, spineless jackboot assholes who could not follow orders were screwing everything up for him. And unfortunately his normal form of stress relief had finally turned into a broken mess....one that now allowed any dominant soldier in the base to bend him over a desk and plow what was supposed to be Steve’s property alone. That had been a rampage for the record books, and may have resulted in a few broken bones, not that he would abuse his toy (whom he had promptly dismissed into the control of someone else) but the soldiers who’d touched what was their Commanders property had certainly learned a lesson.

Now, however, as he sat once again in his office, Steve craved a pet. Someone he could train, his last one being trained when it came to him, and though that had been easier, Steve wanted someone alive....someone with fight that would challenge him and learn to love his creativity. He needed a new pet. Badly.
