Seeking Annihilation
“Illydus, I summon you to my side,” Percival called out atop his tower. Magic glowed from his fingertips as he conjured forth a portal. Floating out of the black wormhole was a demonic observer. Seven eyes blinked at random intervals as a gruesome grin of sharp fangs and drool painted the beasts face.
“How can I be of service, Massster Thalsian?” the Observer queried. The scent of magic lingering in the air, causing his nostrils to flare with excitement.
“You are my most intelligent and well traveled of all my demons, Illydus. I need you to verify the authenticity of something for me. If anyone in the tower can do so, it is you and only you,” he explained, stroking the demons ego immediately.
The warlock reached into the sleeve of his robe and pulled out a crystalline structure. It held a sickly green colour and stank of death and brimstone.
Every tendril that dangled from the demons body shook and quivered with excitement as all seven eyes fixated on the stone. The multitude of eyes glanced at the master warlock, and back to the stone a few times. Saliva drooled down the demons chin into puddles on the floor below.
“Is this... yessss it issss~!” he hissed with shock and awe. Floating closer, his large tongue protruded out to run along the surface of the stone, tasting the magic within. “It is weak, master, but it is indeed a Keystone to a world of the Twisting Nether.”
“Good,” Percival replied with a simple nod, though inside his heart was racing with excitement, “Can you tell me which world? A name, constellations, specifics?”
Again, the demon fixed it’s gaze on the surface of the stone. His tongue slipped back into his jaws as he focused on the minute details of the stones magic.
“I...cannot,” he finally answered after minutes of focus, “But I can say with absolute certainty it connects to a world dominated by the Annihilan. The magic inside is simply too weak for me to say which one, or perhaps it is a master key to access multiple worlds under their dominion.”
From behind his mask Percival scowled. This stone had cost him a fortune and while it was authentic enough to stay his hand, it was clear he still needed to do much more work to achieve his end goals.
“Illydus, I’ll assemble The Trinity sometime in the days to come. I believe if I’m to find the demon I seek, I’ll need all of your help in doing so. This will be a gargantuan task...”
