Lunacy~•.°★°*★.
I put on your dirty socks, just to have something you touched close to me. I never much cared about being gross.
They are red and a hit past the ankle, a teddy bear embroidered on each one.
We bought them in Korea.
And now the trees in our hometown, where I’m stuck, are turning yellow and mustard, and I feel like a part of me is decaying every time my eyes wander vacantly out the window.
I am a fool. I that thinks each season will last even though I've been proven wrong 27 times. And something about the change wears me down, another day, another month, another year flees, and my sorrow never had strong enough hands to hold on or to let go, because both things take a certain kind of strength I wasn’t born with.
So I sit here in your dirty socks, reminding myself that people aren’t seasons, or at least not in the same exact way. I remind myself that you’ll come walking through the front door of our home any hour now asking me if I've eaten, if I've gone outside and why I’m wearing your dirty clothes.
Soon Your Shade Will Come, April 2024
Soon your leaves will grow,
Soon you will be resplendent.
In time I will need you,
When the sun is scorching,
Soon your shade will come.
I'm not a good example
I'm not a lofty ideal
I've had my face down in the mud for the longest
Sucking in the earth and I'm still here
Haven't died like I expected
But can't get up either
Missing the forest and the trees
Pledging allegiance to all the creeping things
If I have a guardian angel
If there's a God
She's disgusted
Looking down from on high wondering
Why I don't listen
Why I can't be steered in a direction
Just what in the hell she made is wrong with me
I don't know either
When I laid down here
I thought it was temporary
Surely this couldn't be what forever looks like
But it has been, and it does
It feels twice as long
I'll be here until there is no earth
Only me
This poem won't work
all the words are too heavy,
like a lead balloon
I can't get it off the ground
and it refuses to fly.

No matter how much my hand shakes
Or my eyes blur
I'll continue to write love sonnets
About the beautiful you

The abrin that enters the system.
Belladonna to sedate it.
Oleander that stings.
Nightshade in the wine.
Oh poison,
how it floods our system.
Oh poison,
how the creatures thrive with it.
