About this time two years ago, I was lying in my bed feeling so depressed, about turning 28 and yet not achieving every goal I created when I turned 15. I literally cried wondering how my life would look when I am 30 and where I was living. In my early 20’s I cut myself slack on a lot of necessities of life – saving money, proper nutrition, investments etc. I rationalized that I was young and had time to do this down the track. In my mid 20’s I begun looking into it and were proud that I had achieved a number of my goals – getting a degree, exploring number of nations around the world and getting a well-paid job. Three years later I was depressed as to why I still live in Sweden, when and how I will find the Mrs. and how detached I am from the faith.
Moving forward 2 years – I am serving in Israel and my friends organized a well-planned and amazing 30th celebration! I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. It was the perfect way of leaving your 20’s and entering a more matured life with more responsibilities and more expectations of your age.
The day begun in Bahji, Akko at the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh, where the prophet and founder of the Bahá'í Faith, is rested. This is the holiest place on earth for Bahá'ís where they turn to in prayer each day. After meditating for some time in the early mornings of Saturday, we ended up for some awesome breakfast at a famous café called, Café Neto, which overlooks the sea surrounding Akko.
The breakfast continued with a nice walk around the city of Acre before returning back home to Haifa for some well-deserved sleep. Waking up for Dawn prayers is something beautiful and refreshing (given it is December and we get to experience some nice cold breeze) in the early morning hours. But if you didn’t sleep well or slept to late the night before, like I did, then what you need to do is what the Spanish love to do everyday of the week, Siesta! So I napped for some few hours before getting ready for dinner.
The dinner was booked at the Fabulous Restaurant, Sinta Bar, which is famous for its interior design and juicy steaks. I just loved it.
The night concluded with a delicious cake and cupcakes in my flat! It was so soft and soooooo gooooooooooood!
A BIG THANK YOU to my DEAR FRIENDS, who organized the day and put the effort on being there and treating me not only for breakfast but also for the dinner!!! It’s one of those things in life you will remember for years to come and I totally appreciate it! Also an ENORMOUS THANKS to the one friend who took her time to bake the cake and the cupcakes for my Birthday! The cake was delicious, the cupcakes were marvelous and the decorations (including the FREAKING AWESOME CARD) were amazingly done! To go and buy a cake is simple and quick – but to put in effort in making it – is truly something special! So for the last time – from the bottom of my heart – THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!
