February: Brown

Carnival Row / Badria Timimi as Mima Roosan

I was never quite sure where to put this outfit; it looked too brown to fit in with the greens, but now it looks quite green among the browns. I did want to feature it, though, as it's a great example of worldbuilding through costumes.

"Mima" is a title for a fae spiritual leader; we see two or three of them in the series, and they all wear outfits along these basic lines, with the long coat and the turban. I read or heard somewhere that the coat is made of reindeer hide. The embroidery down the front is so gorgeous. In the bottom picture, you can see that the sleeves have a long row of buttons that fasten with loops. She also has braids hanging down under the turban in the show, although not in the "concept" picture.
