❝I don't want anything to spoil it.❞
Jung Jinyoung is infamous for dreaming about the most fairy tale-like romance. There are hundreds and more interview being written about it: oh, how he always romanticize the idea of a perfect date setting that came out straight from the movie. He’s a romanticist at its best, a foolish eternal optimist–it is through his sensitivity and wild imagination that he’s able to produce plethora of melodies and lyrics. Jinyoung think that it’s a blessing–to always be positive and having one hell of an imagination at the same time.
But he also know, that from the very first moment he declared his feeling towards Irene Bae, the one and only leader of rising girl group Red Velvet, that his love wouldn’t turn out like those in the movies because they’re both idols. Idols are idols no matter what, and two months and two weeks or so had passed for both of them and it’s never been an easy path for both of them. Unexpected schedules and overnight practices set them apart, it’s not a foreign thing for them to suddenly grew distant due the lack of communication. Jinyoung have to go back and forth between Jeju and Seoul for shooting drama, his cellphone sometimes confiscated by his manager so he’d focus on his work–and he likes to think that the same thing is happening to the female, that even at some point of his life, Jinyoung was convinced that the manager of Red Velvet would have probably holding a grudge towards the certain fox-like leader because of his habit to ‘steal’ their leader away on some occasions.
But he did not give up, never, because at times like this where he get to spend the night with the female for a dinner on a secluded cafe in outskirt Seoul that he could appreciate her presence even more; her physical absence being the trigger that made him even fonder of the girl. Perhaps he’s just a foolish eternal optimist, but perhaps he was just too smitten for the woman.
And suddenly, just as they’re halfway-finished with his meal that he heard the sound of camera shutter in the corner of the room. It seems like tonight would not be an easy night for both of them either; of course there’ll be people who recognizes them. Jinyoung was quick to retaliate to the situation: he dismiss his meal afterwards, drinking a water all the while putting up a calm endeavor despite being panicked. The lack of disguise is a dangerous thing, he realized, as he silently eyed the other side of the room–some peoples were gazing at them with such intent curiosity, sounds of whispers and ‘what ifs’ and people murmuring behind that made him anxious; perhaps they’re wondering whether it’s actually Red Velvet and B1A4 leader who’s having this modest dinner in a fishcake-soup restaurant.
❝Jinyoung?❞
Irene’s voice were gentle and soothing, with a hint of panic and worry imbued on the tone–her doe-like eyes met his own; his hand automatically reaching out to grasp her petite hand. He didn’t say anything in return, his mind a calamity but he knew he should calm down for both of them. Jinyoung only hums, occasionally glancing at the figure that were eyeing them since the beginning.
❝I don’t want anything to spoil it…❞
The date, of course, he understood what she meant fully as her sound were weak, a sigh escaped her lip upon learning the situation as well. A chuckle escaped his lip as he tugged her to stand up, the male idol leaving a few cash in the table before taking her with him to escape from the restaurant. It was thrilling and palpitating at the same time. Her soft hand that grasped onto his grew him excited, but the thought of getting caught also haunted him. They never talked about going public with their relationship, their fans being the #1 concern for this situation–and he imagined the havoc, the ruckus that he’d create for the company, for the group, for Irene, and…
❝Ya, Jung Jinyoung. Were you even listening to me?❞
Irene’s sultry look and gentle voice snapped him out of his reverie. He stood there dumbfounded, glancing at her, realizing that he’s been lost in thought when they have arrived in the car since god-knows when. Small chuckle conceal his nervousness before he open the door for her, some thoughts were still haunting him in his head as he walked towards the driver seat, settling himself on it. Jung Jinyoung haven’t talked much since before, their impromptu date after his arrival in Seoul and the sound of camera shutter being the one that ‘destroy’ their date.
She doesn’t want anything to spoil it, their moment together, and so does he.
But again, it’s never an easy road for them. They can’t walk around the streets holding hand without wearing mask or hat, dates are never easy because they have to be wary whenever they are. But there’s her, the woman whom Jinyoung is willing to do anything for, and it all took a simple peck on lip from the female to melted all his worries into a puddle. Begone, and here comes the sunshine. Jinyoung chuckled at the sudden act, his face puzzled as he stare at her–and he, too, leaned closer, not wanting to lose as per usual and leave several innocent kisses on her face.
It’s only the two of them in the car, and there’s supposed to be nothing else that matters, right?
❝I don’t want anything to spoil it too.❞
He told her, grabbing her hand as his gaze was downcast.
❝I’m sorry for dragging you into this little havoc situation… I shouldn’t have been reckless. I’m really sorry…❞
He smiled weakly, leaving kisses on her knuckles as a sigh escaped his lip. It would have been better for them to stay in her apartment like how it used to be. It’s never a great idea to go on a date outside, but it is his suggestion that then made them stuck in this uncomfortable situation and he can’t do anything much but to calm her down with each kisses, reassuring her that nothing is going to go wrong.
❝…but it’s only two of us now, and I don’t think there’s a reporter anywhere–we’re two hours away from Seoul right now, so is there anything else that you’d like to do since we’ve gone this far?❞
It might not be easy for them, but Jinyoung doesn’t seems to budge with the idea. Because it is her presence that matters the most, that he knew that he’d find happiness as long as he could be with her.
A grimace appears on his face as he buckled up the safety belt and start the gear, he’s waiting for her answer, but know that somehow, escaping with her is the right thing to do in this moment.
