Building headmates tips: Fleshing out their handwriting (extensive)
1 umbrella things to do, 2 different umbrellas of ideas, 2 umbrellas of ways to test
Things to do: Letters, numbers, punctuation, math symbols
Ideas: What to look up; Look up fonts. "fonts" "[insert punctuation mark] fonts" "[insert number] fonts" "arrow fonts" "all maths symbols" (<- then copy the version of the handwriting of them you like most) "and"/"ampersand"
Ideas: What to ask; How big do they write? How curved or straight is their handwriting? Do they use squares/differently angled lines to express curves in their writing? How messy or neat is their handwriting? Do the write with a tilt, and if they do, which way is it tilting? Do they capitalise the first word of a sentence/names/ect?
How often do they make spelling mistakes? Which words do they struggle to spell? Do they care about the spelling mistakes? If/when they cross words out, do they put a line through it, scribble over it, or use tipex (assuming they could)? When they've written a sentence where no other sentence comes after it, do they still put a full stop?
Do they use I/me, we/us, or a mix (assuming its safe to do the last 2)? When a number is below ten, do they write the word for it or still use the digit? When a number is above ten, do they still choose to use the word form? Do they like using pen or pencil better? Which colour ink do they like to write in the most? What type of pen do they prefer? Do they like their pencil points blunt or sharp? Do they use and or &?
How thick is their handwriting? Is it decorative? When draw full stops/colons, do they put a dot or draw a small circle? If they draw a small circle, do they colour it in? How often do they underline/highlight things? Do they care for neatness of asthetics, or are their notes sporadic? Which side of the paper do they draw the date?
When it's a new lesson, do they draw a line and write under their previous work or turn to the next page? Do they fold their work so it can fit in the page they're gluing it in, or turn to a new page? When they don't need to turn to a new page (as in, the whole sheet would fit), do the fold it small or stick it in whole?
Ways to test: "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0" "The quick fox jumped over the lazy brown dog" " ? ! . : ; , ' " ( ) # ' [the symbol for your currency] * & "
Ways to test: Draw a mock school page! Try both maths & english as they differ in how you write the page
