If I ever rewrote Mha, the first thing I would do is let Bakugou get into UA successfully. And when people in UA see his behaviour, they at first don't take it too seriously, but then some talk with Midoriya and learn about Bakugou. And instead of normalizing it, they actually start to get concerned.

They start talking to Midoriya more, and the other classmates slowly begin to try and make him understand that this isn't right. It doesn’t happen instantly, it takes time, and Midoriya slowly realizes that Bakugou's behaviour is not ok.

After realizing, the whole of Class-A collectively question Bakugou, and honestly I'm pretty sure he would try to blame it on Midoriya, saying that he "snitched" or whatever. Like, we see him throw temper tantrums and have meltdowns like a spoiled brat denied his Ipad, I'm pretty sure he wouldn’t take the blame and just crash out and try to attack Midoriya. But before he can, the teachers intervene and they do not justify Bakugou. They have been growing concerned aswell, and they do not normalize his attitude. He gets expelled and his abusive and hostile nature goes on his permanent record. Maybe he even gets a restraining order.

Midoriya realizes that what happened to him wasn't right and that Bakugou deserves to rot in hell. He stops excusing his behaviour and stands up for himself, instead of letting Bakugou walk all over him.

And then finally, Bakugou is removed from the show. Happy ending.

Bakugou is definitely a fan favorite of MHA, and I get it. I get why people like him, and there are even times where I enjoy him. Or, maybe the right word is “tolerate”. Because even though I understand, I can’t like him.

He’s gotten better now, and he’s actually apologized in the series for his actions (and was forgiven by his victim), but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to really like him, at least not in the canon series. His past actions just aren’t excusable to me.

It wasn’t like he was just some bully, he was the main reason for Midoriya’s torment in middle school and he started it all. He was the one who gave him the name “Deku”, a name that meant useless, when they were FOUR, and then continued it until they were sixteen. Of course, that is minor compared to the suicide baiting.

“Oh, but he didn't mean it!” you might say, and to that, all I have is this: you know that it doesn’t matter whether he meant it or not, right? He still said it, and if Midoriya didn’t have plot armor, if he wasn’t the main character, if this was real life and not a manga/anime, it’s highly likely that he would have listened to those words.

And yet, that still is second place. First place for the worst thing he did, to me at least, was his actions in the battle trial on the first official day of school. Let me remind you that All Might told Bakugou not to and warned him of the consequences, and Bakugou’s response was confirming that he KNEW what could happen.

And he still went through with trying to murder Midoriya. Because that’s what murder is. The exact definition of it is “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another”, and since Bakugou was warned and confirmed he did know what would happen, it would qualify under the definition.

“But Midoriya dodged, he was fine!” so it’s attempted murder then, making it still a crime. And what if Midoriya hadn’t been able to dodge? They made it very clear the attack would have been lethal, meaning Bakugou would have been responsible for killing Midoriya.

Which brings me to my next point, and honestly, my real reason for disliking Bakugou: he never faces any consequences for his actions. I’m not looking for him for him to undergo physical harm or even looking for him to get expelled. But Midoriya got in more trouble for saving Iida’s life than Bakugou did for attempting to murder someone, and that isn’t right.

Bakugou was lowkey ableist and I don't know how to feel about that

i agree with you. i went through a lot of bullying when i was a kid and i have absolutely no sympathy for bakugou regardless of his age

Yeah, going back and thinking it over, while objectively his personality has (barely) improved he is still quick to anger the only real improvement being he doesn't throw a Quirk tantrum every time he gets mad (that doesn't mean he's stopped). Hell on the first day of UA he LEGIT threatens izuku in front of the whole class and the teacher with the largest disciplinary record at the school and it is never mentioned again! (but Aizawa's inconstant character in regards to his expulsion track is a different post entirely) while in UA, the hero school with the highest standards in the country. When All Might asked him why he wanted to be a hero in the final exam arc bakugou says it's because he wants to be the [physically] strongest like All Might. His motivation is basically "I want to legally beat people up." And as far as I recall no one has regarded this as a problem.

Bakugou Hate

I read a comment about someone who genuinely hates Bakugou's character saying that he's had zero character development since the whole anime started. Now I'm gonna join the Bakugou Protection Squad for a sec here lol. Well mister, know that there is always a time for everything. 

One: Since he's not even the protagonist and with the number of characters they've got since it's a classroom situation, it's kind of hard to put all these character developments all in just two seasons. 

Two: Now that we're in season 3 he's finally in the spotlight, which means a good chance of character development. However, we've still seen none of that yet. Why? Season 3 has barely started and we're only just about to find out what the actual boss of the villains is like. 

Three: We barely know anything about the true Bakugou as of this moment. How can there be character development if we don't even know him? Don't let the "I'm a loud selfish brat who's angry all the time" shtick fool you. That stuff is mostly just to cover up his true feelings about his whole situation -- hiding it from other people and maybe, even from himself. That may be his explosive personality (see what I did there), true, but we don't know anything about his thoughts and his true intentions except for the fact that he wants to become the top one hero. 

Four: His character is a huge factor of the main character's own development. Whenever Midoriya looks back to his roots about why he started wanting to become a hero, Bakugou's always there. He grew up wanting to become a hero with the guy. Bakugou's character development will affect Midoriya's character greatly as well. 

Finally: Going back to how there's a time for everything, they're taking their sweet time when it comes to giving Bakugou character development, right? Why is that? Maybe it's because it's THAT big of a deal for the whole anime's plot? Can you imagine Katsuki Bakugou being nice to Midoriya, who he's been bullying ever since they were four? No? Well imagine if suddenly, he was. Why is that such an odd thing to imagine? That's because of how much time we've known him as this shallow character who only thinks about himself. If he had character development right off the bat then it wouldn't mean a lot to us. The moment he does change, it'll be an incredibly great deal to everyone. 

Plus, do you think it's that easy to change in the real world? Change takes time, and it's NOT easy -- especially to a stubborn teenager such as Bakugou. What annoyed that person in the comments is actually what makes Bakugou's character a lot more interesting. It reflects change in reality.

Bakugou haters actually take the time and manage to analyze his character and point out how much of an asshole he is despite how much Horikoshi tries to normalize it, while Bakugou glazers not only take whatever nonsense is spoonfed to them, but make up more bs to justify his abusive nature.
