Footwork Matters
Wells doesn’t just lift heavy. He knows how to work his feet.
At the Golden Army Sports Centre, the pitch was quiet except for the sound of the ball snapping off his boots. Touch, tap, roll. Controlled. Precise. The kind of footwork that makes defenders nervous before they even know why.
He took his time with it, cones set, drills clean, hips loose, legs doing exactly what they were trained to do. Every move deliberate. Every turn smooth. Wells liked control. Liked knowing where everything was going before it got there.
A couple of guys paused mid-warmup to watch. Wells noticed. Of course he did.
“Gotta keep the touch sharp,” he said with a grin, nudging the ball forward and snapping it back just as fast. “You lose that… things get sloppy.”
He pushed into a sprint, cut hard, stopped on a dime. Ball stayed glued. Body followed. Balance perfect. There’s something about a man who knows how to use his lower body that gets attention, especially when he’s clearly enjoying the work.
By the time Wells finished, the ball was scuffed, the turf marked, and the point made.
Strength gets you noticed. But good footwork?
That’s what keeps people watching.
