A general list of headcanons for Batman: The Animated Series Jonathan Crane. These aren’t necessarily romantic in nature and are more based off of canonical interactions with other characters and general observations.

Married once and divorced long after. I think his heart was (trying to be) in the right place but at the end of the day, he valued his villainy more than his relationship. He thinks about them quite frequently and is relatively upset that things ended due to his hubris. He yearns for a close emotional connection and most likely had it with that marriage, but his alter ego had ruined any hope of a life together.
Chronic mouth breather (his side profile alone is just proof of that).
I think he’s one of the only Scarecrows to not care for horror movies unless they’re scaring someone else. He’s one of the wimpiest Cranes I feel (canonical fear of the dark amongst other things.)
Tying into his canonical fear of the dark, he has a small nightlight. He rationalizes it by claiming that it helps him read in the dark, despite his closer and far more convenient bedside lamp.
Back pain due to the constant slouching.
Because of his love for the arts, he is extremely skilled at drawing (look no further than the TNMT crossover where he designed his own costume for TNBA). He’s certainly taken his fair share of fine arts courses during his own college years.
Likely was a millionaire at one point—or at the very least well off. He owned his own chemical manufacturing company and taught two college courses (English and Psychology). If that isn’t a hard working man either I don’t know what is. All of his money had been blown due to his schemes, so he doesn’t exactly have anything to lean back on if he did decide to turn away from villainy (save for possible job offers).
Constantly itchy and suffers from hay rashes more than even he’d like to admit. Hay is seen poking out of his Arkham uniform in the episode ‘Lock Up’. The incessant itching and rashes add onto his short temper, but who could blame him?
Takes up old, artsy hobbies to pass the time in Arkham. If they let him have a rocking chair, they probably aren’t against him having hobbies—after all, he is typically described as one of the ‘better behaved’ patients at times (typically only when he’s planning an escape or wants something from someone). He’s taken up sewing, particularly because it helps him mend his costume (though he does tend to dabble in a bit of embroidery).
Despite his constant need to prove himself superior to others, he isn’t exactly the best at games of strategy. In ‘Joker’s Millions’, Jervis and Jonathan can be seen playing a game of chess. Jonathan looks particularly miserable, likely because he’s losing (Jervis has more peices on his end than Jonathan and seems relatively unbothered). Losing leaves him frazzled.
Taught Harley in college and had a particularly soft spot because of how much he saw himself in her. That, mixed with the shared love for the fine arts and psychology (Harleys love for films and plays) gave them quite a strong bond.
