Still here; still trying; still suffering. ✨
A little scenery update from both sides of my world: small tweaks I've made while getting back into CAW that didn't feel BigTM or special enough to warrant a dedicated post with multiple angles, but do make me feel a little happy to look at.
Of note: the middle (largest) image is a preview of where the paradressage arenas are set to go. Peeking through those trees will eventually show the back of one of the accessible viewing pavilions.
The left-side image below that is eventually going to be the Counselor-in-Training pool/clubhouse spot for summer camp.
Progress is slower than steady, but looking at these really makes me feel like I can see the finish line: distant still, but imaginable. 🌱
Say goodbye to the old back-and-forth of gathering tack before your lessons: the new boarder lounge in Access Eq’s side barn is taking shape. Equipped with an ADA-compliant mini kitchen, laundry machines, a small sitting area, plenty of shelf space for boarder and lessee belongings, and multilevel tack hangers, this convenient and accessible lounge will be the one-stop shop for all of your horse care needs—just in time for the summer heat! The days of crossing the yard to fill buckets and haggling over golf carts to shift heavy gear between barns are soon to be a thing of the past. ✨ [Projected to wrap construction Summer 2025.]
Angles are bad because I didn't intend to share these when I took them, wall colors aren't real, and clutter is still a massive WIP!
Barrhead School (et. al.) Announcement!
After a long, long morning of Carrd struggles and how-to video-hopping, we've got a website! Several, in fact!
Barrhead School of Horsemanship (Barn Site)
Barrhead School Saddlery (Our CC & CC Finds)
Ride #IN-STRIDE! (Our club on EQ!)
All are still very obviously WIPs, featuring placeholder images from my screenshot graveyard only, and still a significant amount of placeholder text in some spots as well, but at least we've got takeoff! This is something that I'd been meaning to do for years.
The vibe is intended to be 45% professional, 45% campy, and 10% how do you do, fellow kids? lmaoo. I'm really happy with how they're turning out. I never thought I'd actually get this far with these projects...or be able to make myself a website when the time came.
Links have been added to the nav post as well. There's only so much to see, but most of the buttons should be working, so feel free to click around and explore! (And please let me know if anything seems like it isn't doing what it should haha.)
Alt-text coming ASAP.
Fiona (of "scratching at the 2024 Olympics with a mule who mysteriously went lame for about two and a half hours on trot-up day" fame) recently moved into a new basement apartment at 25 Lakeside Dr., and has been settling in quite nicely! Would you believe me if I told you this is barely 35% of what she's bringing with her?
If it wasn’t clear by the empty shelf space, non-recolored stuff, no ceiling, and room to walk around, this is a massive WIP!
As if being mired in the moving process, several recent hospital stays, and suffering a house fire in August wasn't LifeTM enough for life to be, I was hit by a car the other day while crossing the street.
My wheelchair, as broken as it was before this, undoubtedly saved my life, but neither it nor I are in very good shape at the moment.
I haven't been able to sit at my desk for too too long, let alone get out of the house as often for wi-fi, but I feel like I deserve a little extra sims time when I can!
First views of the #IN-STRIDE show jumping and marathon driving warmup rings, plus a little sneak peek at the marathon course. 🌱
I thought that it would be a good time, while I’m working on last-minute imports and markings for our own horses, to show some WIP facility shots. On the eastern half of the Barrhead School property is our Access Eq facility, where riders with physical, psychiatric, and/or intellectual disabilities are met with equitable opportunities to enjoy all that the vast world of horsemanship has to offer. The top pic is our main Access Eq boarder barn, still under construction, and the bottom two show the primary schooling barn for students and IN-STRIDE members. (Our landscapers are still hard at work, so expect plenty of changes by the time it’s ready to welcome guests!)
