I am going to give myself a pat on the back for this cake. Although it is a bit of a technical and time intensive recipe, your tastebuds will thank you after it all comes together. This was my first time making honeycomb and a full fledged cake so you can imagine my anxiety when approaching it. However, despite a blunder with the first attempt at making the honeycomb, all of the elements married cohesively at the end. Just a quick note in regards to transporting this cake. If you are bringing this to an event, I suggest decorating it right before serving. Depending on how stiff you make the glaze, it will run right off the cake during the journey over. In addition, if you leave the honeycomb on the glaze too long before serving, it will begin melting and lose the crispy crunch that you are looking for from it. I say all of this because I made this mistake after this photo shoot. When I got to the party, I had a soupy sticky mess to deal with. I am glad I brought the extra honeycomb, glaze, and crust mixture because otherwise I would have been accused of false advertising from what is being featured. Overall it was still delicious, but not the best presentation. Just some food for thought. . . . What can I say? My creative flow is fueled by the teenage pain of watching students toil over a standardized test (queue evil laugh) 😈🤣 This was my first time actually making a cheeseCAKE rather than cupcakes or tarts. I wanted to do something stately and sophisticated based around @barrhillgin Raw Honey. When I was first introduced to this liquid gold a few years ago while working at a craft beer and spirits distributor, I was blown away. I did not know what honey was until I tried it.
