While brownness prompts “Where are you from?” Your whiteness prompts “What do you do?” You wish to define me by my physicality but you expect to be defined by your actions and your intellect.

Useful reminder to white folks like myself: asking 'where are you from' is a privileged asshole thing to say in any context you wouldn't also feel like it was relevant to ask someone you read as white that. Other peoples' cultural identities: not actually created for the personal entertainment of colonists, believe it or not.
