Cross stitch:
The very basic supplies:
The pattern
Cloth to stitch on (aida/linen/etc)
Scissors
The floss (or thread but it's called floss for cross stitch)
Needles (research what size for your aida)
Something to hold your project/supplies in
A hoop to hold the fabric or do it by hand (no hoop)
Optional but makes it easier:
A ruler/measuring tape- got to know what you are working with. (Get a keychain version!)
A cross stitch fabric calculator- you put in the w x h # of stitches and it calculates how big your work will be.
A small plate to hold your scissors/floss/etc so it is contained. Also something to hold the floss you cut off.
A needle minder. You put your needle on it to keep up with it
A needle threader, but not those cheap coin shaped ones.
Frogging- removing your work because of a mistake. Buy a seam ripper, it saves a lot of time.
I use a clip to hold the cut of floss so I don't lose it.
Let's make it cheaper
Thread snips for cutting floss, not aida. You don't need $25 scissors.
Ziploc bags can hold everything
You can frame with thrifted/dollar tree frames
You can also frame by slapping it on canvas
Libraries for patterns
Ebay is a fun place to look for supplies cheaper, especially cross stitch lots or physical patterns.

Cheap floss can bleed be careful
Knots are not great. Loop start if possible
Plan it out before you start. Measure carefully.
Wash your projects when you are done, especially if you have pets.
They make glow in the dark/glittery/metallic floss. Have fun with it
Be careful of ai generated patterns. They won't turn out right often.
First project? Grab a kit for kids or start small

lore summarised
Basically, there have been hundreds of genocide routes done by the player. Dust finds that the only way to 'stop the human' is to gain LV and kill them. Deep down, he knows there's no definitive way to kill them, but to frustrate them enough to leave is enough for him. Even if it means killing all his friends. Slowly, he also starts to enjoy this 'game' him and the human have. The fight to gain more LV than the other. It's probably why he hates himself so much, he's turning out more and more like the player.

There is no canon ending for Dusttale. Because resets always happen. The loop never stops for him

Papyrus
Dust loves his brother deeply. At first, he hated killing him. But he grew numb eventually. Eventually he had a phantom of his brother following him around. While Phantom is supposed to be a 'ghost of Papyrus', he is actually just Dust's conscience belittling himself as Papyrus (being schizophrenic in a sense). This is especially evident because Phantom doesn't disappear after a reset, and is present when Papyrus is still alive. Dust doesn't like him that much, but likes to think it's his actual brother
canon relationships (out of au)
Nightmare – Dust hates him, he got rid of his 'freedom'
Error – It's been said by the creator that 'anyone who threatens Dust's freedom is his enemy', with Error's personality, he'd likely hate him
Killer – Doesn't like him because 1. he 'works' with the human, 2. is annoying and 3. reminds him of himself
Horror – Considered a friend to Dust. But Dust is afraid of what Horror would think of him (implied to be a one-sided friendship)
important facts to know
- He still jokes and drinks ketchup like a regular Sans, just doesn't enjoy it as much as he used to
- Still fears death, well more of the world after death
- He becomes more EXPERIENCED after every reset, not stronger (his LV goes back to 1)
- Dust CANNOT be 'saved'
- Does not like working for Nightmare. Would betray/escape at any given chance
- Dust wouldn't fight against other Sanses/humans. He may be wary, but would actually avoid fights if he could
- Dust doesn't wear Papyrus' scarf in canon. It's not part of his official design
