RUSH! released, and I finally have a moment inside my chaotic life to sit down and listen to this list is not going to include the loneliest, mamma mia, supermodel, or gossip, gasoline since you know we already heard those, lol
Own my mind - A powerful opening to the album, a very vibey catchy introduction. I love the riff and especially the bass!
Timezone - I REALLY love Damiano's voice in this one raspy & powerful love how it starts soft and gets stronger as the song continues. Definitely, I say, the second-best ballad on the album
Bla Bla Bla - I know some people see this song as unserious and fun but according to the rush! The storyline is about a boyfriend and a toxic relationship. It's one of those unserious songs with deeper meanings overall I'm in a love-hate with this song sometimes I will listen to it sometimes I will skip it lol
Baby Said - L O V E, the guitar intro sold this song for me 8 seconds. I love how you continue to hear it throughout the whole song, and let me add this Thomas shines during this album. His guitar skills *chefs kiss*
FEEL - Seeing this storyline, and they were like we were just having fun. There's no meaning behind the lyrics, guys! It made me laugh, but the song itself is good Damiano saying LA LA LA LA is now buried in my brain.
Don't Wanna Sleep - I love the song definitely in my top five. The drums in this song are to die for, and Thomas's AMAZING guitar solo, Y E S!
Kool Kids - I disliked this song. The way Damiano sings it annoys me, but he was drunk while recording this, so LOL, but this song is just bad. Remove this from the album, and nothing changes at all.
If Not For You - Damiano brings such passion and soul. This ballad is very calm compared to the others, in which you expect a beat and instruments playing louder instead, it stays on the same pace, and I love it as you can tell I'm a sucker for ballads!
Read Your Diary - This is very addictive, and "forever and ever" is like a drug. It gets stuck in your mind even though I'm not too fond of the song. It's very catchy
Mark Chapman - This song I was MOST curious about because of why they named it after a murderer. Anyways it's good, a very speedy song like they're on a timer, and it's about to go off.
Il dono della vita - Just like with If Not For You expecting the instruments to play louder instead, it's on the same pace. This song was the perfect way to end the album for RUSH! It's not the strongest ballad on this album, but it's the perfect The End Song.
Overall I Love RUSH!, and maneskin did not disappoint. I love the versatility in their music and hope they continue with it
welp i saw onward, the 2020 pixar movie, and honestly? it’s fine. it’s a good movie. i related to it a lot bc of personal life reasons that im not gonna put on the internet (but if youre one of my irl friends/mutuals on here you’d probs know what im talking about hehe vague post abt my life), and basically i liked it a lot. it’s really cute. i’m a sucker for (found) family/sibling bonding genre media and also urban fantasy and this ticks off a lot of boxes for me.
what i would like to do now however is def fire the absolutely tone-deaf disney executive(s) and/or employee(s) of the marketing team that decided to do the thing. in which they, for some reason, announced the cyclops cop character as the uh. what is it? like the 4th or 5th or something “first lgbtq+/gay disney character.” because she’s not. aaaaaaaaa.
since i knew about the controversy beforehand, when the lesbian cyclops cop character came on-screen i kinda cringed a bit. and she’s only in the movie for one scene that’s probably only like 5 minutes. aaaaaand she only brings up her girlfriend once.
now honestly, i was fine with her single line about having a girlfriend and dealing with her girlfriend’s daughter. i think that it came up in a very natural way in the movie and it was overall just ok. it was def a more direct way, being “this character literally says she has a girlfriend” vs “this character is shown for 5 seconds dancing with another man.”
if disney’s marketing team hadn’t decided to absolutely fuck up and announce yet another “first ever gay character,” i feel like this moment would have been (for me at least) just a nice little surprise. just a little thought that might be in the back of your mind as you walk out of the movie theater.
it could have been a “wow this was a nice little surprise in the movie and it was handled in a natural mature way that came up naturally in a conversation, and the movie didnt make a big deal out of it, showing kids in the audience that being queer is just a normal natural thing, like in real life, where queer people just exist and vibe and be alive,” moment.
buuuuuuuut NO. instead they made a big deal out of it and basically, it was a horrible marketing decision. and i feel like this horrible marketing decision is preventing people from giving the movie a try and seeing that it’s a p decent family bonding kids movie that i think deals with loss of a parent and stuff in a nice, p mature for a kids movie way. and that makes me sad. so. yeah.
(the other criticism that’s “the lesbian character being a cop is bad bc cops hurt the queer community” tho is completely valid, that’s fine. also if you do want to give the movie a chance but dont want to financially support disney/pixar bc of this horrible marketing that’s fine. they’re like billionaires and stuff. im sure its easy to find on pirating sites so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
or just find a family/friend who did buy the movie and borrow their dvd/blu ray/whatever. or, you know, support your local library and see if they have a copy or see if you can order it through your local library branch)
i know y'all (or some of you) think that Lorna is wrong, but don't you think both sides are wrong? If they continue to hide like the Mutant Underground was doing, they're waiting for somebody else to attack. But if they do go out and hurt other people, yeah nobody's going to change their minds about mutants. but I'm just here to a mentor situation between Andy and Lorna, and maybe them introducing more mutants from the comics! anyway, can The Gifted season 2 come faster
The Barcelona forward is one of the greatest to have have played the game. But his international career highlighted the fraught marriage between football and country
“Enough of Messi,” continued Agustin Suárez Doreski’s post. “Stay away. Don’t come here any more. Why come here? To weep? To feel indebted to a people that ask more of him than their own politicians?” But Messi, whether out of a sense of duty or love or both towards his homeland, really wanted to deliver. After last year’s Copa final, which Argentina also lost to Chile, there was a telling quote from the then Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli. After the game Sampaoli asked Messi why he had refused the best player award. Messi said he didn’t want to win for himself. He wanted to win for Argentina.
For Argentina. Many Argentinians need Messi to bring a trophy home so they can feel like champions. But many others are simply satisfied with the joy he brings with his game alone. We don’t know how much he still enjoys playing. One thing is clear, this marriage between country and ball, this ongoing unsettled debt which runs both ways … Messi is not enjoying it at all.
