For the next few days, I'll be posting my favorite photos of the 4 major Basilicas of Rome. I'll start with the San Giovanni in Laterano (Papal Archbasilica of St. John in the Lateran). San Giovanni in Laterano is the oldest church of the Western World, founded in the 4th century by Constantine the Great. Dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, it stands on the piazza by the same name, within Rome’s city center. San Giovanni in Laterano is also the city’s cathedral. Make sure to pay it a visit, when you're in Rome. The fourth church: St John in Lateran, the oldest basilica and the cathedral of Rome. We also got to ascend the Scala Sancta considered the holy stairway. The marble stairs were brought to the Lateran in the 4th century.
