@bastardstandard ★ GRIEVED ★ ☆ GLIMPSES OF THE PAST: a headcanon / prompt collection
send GRIEVED for a scene from my muse's past in which they had recently lost someone / something
William stands in the hospital room, staring down at the small figure within the bed. The nurses moving about the room, disconnecting every tube and monitor that had been hooked up. There is no more beeping of machines, no more daily visits to check up with have some glimmer of hope that things would be better. It was the last visit, the last time he would be in this room. His wife had left when the news was broken to them outside in the waiting room. She yelled at him, blamed him for what happened. It was one of his creations after all that did the deed, his absence from the family that drove the incident to happen. He hates her for it, for leaving without being there for their youngest. She abandoned Evan, even if the boy was no longer there. Leaving him to deal with the aftermath, the paperwork and the heartache of seeing his youngest in such a state. Wishes he could be numb about it, standing without any of his family there besides Evan. But he cannot. Anger mixes in with the deepening sorrow, just as it always does.
A hand reaches out, brushing away strands of the fluffy brown hair from Evan's face. They did well cleaning away the blood, and he knows the funerary home will do good to make him look just like he did before. His little bear. . . his poor innocent little bear. It was not enough, to keep his family happy and safe. Days upon days of worry, of tension between the Afton parents -- of his anger boiling over with how many times he had yelled at Michael, words he said that could never be taken back on the day it happened. “It's okay, my little bear,” his eyes close, biting back the wave of crashing sorrow. No more nights of finding Evan sneaking into the basement, sitting with his papa as work is done on the projects. No more of the smiling little face when he would comfort his youngest from a nightmare or something that scared him. He cannot help but have the visceral memory brought to the forefront of his mind. . . the crunch of bone, screams of horror from those around. The sight of the blood and his youngest dangling from Fredbear's mouth. . . Michael just standing there dumbfounded, doing nothing. William leans down, giving a light kiss to Evan's forehead -- unable to stop the tears that spill from his eyes upon feeling the warmth fading away from the skin, “I hope you are at peace now. . . daddy loves you. . . never forget that.” His children were the only things he ever truly cared for. . . “Mr. Afton?” One of the nurses knocks on the door to make her presence known, “They are ready to take him to the funerary home. We can wait a few if you would like to finish up saying your goodbyes.” The nurse is quiet, pitying him for being alone. “No,” Will pulls back, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe away the stray tears, “It's fine.” His voice is empty of emotion, something that many would find concerning. But, he is not the one who will be asked if he is okay. They will be focused on his wife more ; caring more for her grieving than his, even if he would find it more annoying than helpful. He watches as they come in, adjusting the bed so it can be wheeled out of the room and to the back where the funerary home's van awaits. Even as they leave the room, William remains. His gaze settles on the Fredbear plush that sits on the nearby table -- moved there when they had removed everything. And he grabs hold of the last thing he has of his youngest son, feeling the radio nestled beneath the stuffing and the fading golden fur. William simply stands in the empty room, staring down at the plush. . . the same state he would be in at the funeral. Alone.
do you dye the grey out of your hair? 😎

Fear.
Send my muse a word and they’ll tell you something about their past related to that word (Angst Edition).
"Did you know that I used to torture for hire? Umbrella never resisted my taking jobs for other companies because I would share the results with them. They also used me for their own fact finding endeavors. My victims were sometimes supposed to be disposed of after I was finished anyways, so I would often have fun with them.
"I am sure you have seen how afraid someone is when you kill them, but have you ever tortured someone to death? I would treat their injuries as I worked. I would take them apart bit by bit, keep them alive. My proudest little toy was a man who had dreams of immortality and was willing to betray Umbrella's interests for it. Interesting research; if not for his compound I would have scars. Every inch of smooth skin is owed to this man, so he deserved something special.
"When people break and tell you what you want to know they expect the pain to end. Can you imagine how his face looked when he spilled his secrets and Command said I could get rid of them however I want? When Command encouraged me to take my time? My first step was to use his formulation on him to clean up my previous work and have a clean canvas to work with. His teeth had to go, one by one with a hammer and a pair of pliers. This made forcing the feeding tube into him easier. His cock and balls were removed next. More tubes to evacuate his waste. Both feeding and evacuation are forced; he lost all right to any bodily autonomy when he crossed Umbrella.
"I took my time after that collecting all the little parts of him. Pulling his nails off. Skinning him. Removing muscle and tendon. I tried to get the bone as clean as possible before cutting at the joints to remove it. It took a lot of work and everything he and Umbrella had to offer to keep him alive. Eventually the mind breaks; I was left with a head and torso that could only stare blankly at the ceiling light while machines kept him fed and breathing- and filtered when I removed his kidneys and liver and left him in need of dialysis
"I miss those days. But also, I want to impress upon you that when I say I have seen monsters and I know fear, and you do not measure up, it is not grand standing. When I say I should have been a killer and that I do not understand how you were given that role, it is because I have done things to other humans that make a simple murder pale in comparison."

Obtaining any of the masks was harder than Frank had thought, and the killers were not easy prey.
Still, a part of him was glad the Deer masked man had stepped out of his reach, and Frank stood, lifting his chin. He'd lost his tie, yet again, but at least his mask was still with him for now.
"I need your mask, that's all. I'll fuckin' swap, if you want. You claim mine, I claim yours."
As the Deer pulled out their own blade, slowly tracing their fingertips over the blade, Frank bit down on his own lip. "I don't want to kill anymore, I just want it to stop!" he hissed back at the other. "I just want to stop..."

THE FUCK WAS WITH ALL THESE PEOPLE COMING OUT OF THE WOOD WORK ALL OF A SUDDEN? there’s a frown on his face, but it’s hidden by his mask. “i wear it because i want to. you should wear one because you’re fucking hideous.”
"Oh, looks like you got jokes, kid!" The word sounds exceptionally derogatory and antagonistic coming from him, but the slight grin is there either way. Maybe he's not always the easiest to get along with but he's trying, maybe. "Where the fuck are we anyway?"
This silence oppresses @bastardstandard. Dust is fuzzy and thick over the vents above your head, illuminated by the sunlight through a long, thin window high up against the ceiling. You have been waiting for this. You are braced for anything and nothing, straining to see more than a vacant bathroom behind you, to hear more than the humid kiss of your own breath inside your mask. Is it your mask that is the problem? Was there a rule about having your face uncovered?
Focus, you have lost your focus in the details you never considered, focus. The mirror image becomes clear again, and you see him.
Chin tilted against the pristine ivory collar of a silk neckscarf, dark eyes up, the fine sculpting of a lean face framed by cushy fur trim on his coat. Behind his back, his arms were folded. Rich baritone embraces the room from all sides as he speaks, insisting but patient, the voice of a deadly weapon in a velvet glove.
"Knowing of me alone did not satisfy you. To know me better, I came for you. So now, you should hide nothing from me."
