Hi! I have an autism spectrum disorder, and one of the fairly major manifestations of this is that I can't tell when I need to go to the toilet until I literally need to go in the next five minutes, or I'll have an accident (this has happened- on occasion in public- several times). I was wondering if you have any tips for how to tell that I need to go to the bathroom with a bit more advance warning? Thanks very much!

It might also help to make a habit of going at certain times whether you think you need to or not.  For example, I always use the bathroom right before bed, right before leaving the house, and upon waking up in the morning.  That way you don’t run the risk of suddenly needing to go half an hour later while you’re at the grocery store or trying to fall asleep.
