i feel if anybody could legitimately be a force for changing bruce wayne as a person for the better---it would be the rogues gallery being decent & kind people with their own problems who are equally as mentally ill and also, having political world views that challenge bruce’s. i would like to see rogues be forces for positive social change instead of just ‘MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE DO BAD THING FOR BAD REASON?’ when batman does ‘good things’ for bad reasons.

bruce legitimately thinks he’s the ‘good’ mentally ill person helping the ‘bad’ mentally ill people by locking them up even tho he KNOWS it could just as easily be him. he’s a pig herding sheep acting like a wolf man. it’s fucked

in a world where joker isn’t like. what canon makes a good concept of a gay funny clown that likes disrupting the establishment, where he’s smart enough to be annoying in a funny way and legitimately try to enact social change even if it is thru violence.

joker would legitimately be more helpful a relationship for bruce than a robin/child soldier that he feels he has to ‘fix’ with violence....

if bruce had to come to terms with the fascism within him and couldn’t look at himself as a hero or a martyr suffering for the people of gotham bc joker was like ‘u are a big idiot!!!! and i am going to make fun of you now!!! by replacing all the gold bars in gotham WITH RUBBER DUCKS!!!!!’ it would just be fun and cool. as an au if nothing else!!!!!

Batjokes could be really interesting in the sense of : How far from grace could Bruce fall? How far can Batman fall before the morals that hold him together break apart? His obsession with Batman is so much of the Joker, what happens when that infatuation is responded to in turn? What could happen to Bruce when something takes precedence over his mission to save the city?

Would it mean an end to both the Batman and the Joker, and what does that mean? What does Bruce’s family think of this? What does Jason think of this?

Does it end (because it will, sooner rather then later) with a bang? A burning city and bloody Kevlar and something in the both of them, about this ‘game’ changed irreparably? Does it end in a whimper, with two men who are no longer their personas, coming the the realization that they’ve destroyed everything that made them themselves? If they aren’t the Bat and The Clown, and they aren’t Bruce and Jack, who are they? Do they want to know?

Bruce cares, he cares too much, but does the Joker care? Will he expect things to go back to normal? And when that doesn’t happen?

Joker must have known this day was coming. They'd been doing this for 3 months. It was obvious this was going to be something long term. Past any experimental phase.

In the morning sunlight, Bruce hunched over his coffee and laced his fingers. Stared, bounced his hands thrice before looking up. "So." A serious expression. Regret and guilt and hopefulness.

Is… requited BatJokes actually a thing…

While I cannot see, in any universe, Bruce holding something for Joker other than disgust, I have to admit that I can see where Joker would be infatuated with Batman? Especially considering the modern storylines that DC has been publishing over the last couple of years. Is it love? No, I don’t think Joker is capable of that. But I do feel that it’s believable for Joker to twist his obsession into the general shape of the relationships of those he observes around him.

this is a VERY SERIOUS verse based of of @dajokahhh ‘s joker never trying to kill jason / disable babs bc he’s more an agent of non-terrible/mostly non-iredeemable chaos probably and instead an angry jason teenage just moves out because he finds out bruce and joker are ROMANTIC with one another and he’s like WHATS THE POINT OF ALL THIS. I WANT TO BREAK CRIMINALS BONES. YOU JUST WANT TO BONE THEM? i hate this family!!!

jason in this verse goes to ra’s al ghul bc every time talia is in town she’s really nice to him!!! and ra’s always offers him unimaginable power so LETS GO. ninja time.

bruce tries to get him back---but jason’s mind is made up, and he is now under ra’s protection. jason todd’s disappearance is explained as him going away to boarding school.

notes: jason finds out about damian way before bruce does and thinks its funny, considers damian a little brother, won’t tell him why, neither will ra’s, who calls him ‘bird in hand’ or red bird. jason, while he’s totally against batman now, is NOT against robin or dick, and is fine with this.

jason is a lot less particular and clean about things, a lot more of a typical normal guy, but he is more anxious about everything in his life because now people are trying to kill him in his sleep. he’s way more a trained killer, and he prefers knives to guns in general, bc they’re quieter.

jason never gets dipped in the lazarus pit, and actually fears the lazarus pit a lot. he never liked magic or metas in general.

he comes back to gotham after talia takes damian to bruce---he’s ra’s operative agent, tries to get his little brother back. but jason, being jason, becomes... too curious about everything going on in gotham to just LEAVE. he sticks around to mess with bruce and the batfamily, specifically the robins and cass.

"We should leave." A nod, black nails stirred the boba tea. "But he's..." A shrug, brows raised in bewilderment. "He's him." Stabbing replaced anxious stirring. Leaned back in the chair. Tap, tap, the parasol gently thumped the concrete as he took a drink.

Most couples didn't carry batarangs, mallets, or acid flowers. Not exactly dealing with battered spouse syndrome. Not exactly dealing with a healthy kink either. Joker was dangerous. It was a little intimidating to be in the same room, like a shark deciding not to eat you. It let's you touch, but only you. For now. The pride that you were special, chosen, a step above the rest. The least-hated & nearly loved by a madman. A mastermind. The simultaneous ego trip & ego death was disorienting. Dizzying, in an addicting & exciting way.

Joker takes a sharp inhale of air and tries to breath under the blossom of pain that spreads across his chest, it’s slight but it comes and goes as he falls back. The kick has him flat on his ass and the rain douses him like a rat wading through sewage. He still laughs, crazed and amused, feeling the grime cake across his suit, soaking into his skin. It’s everywhere and all too quickly Batman is on him, straddling him. Joker has two seconds to recover before Batman violently grabs his collar and pulls to become a punching bag. Each hit is met with a sick gurgling sound, his mouth full of blood as he laughs and spits in the face of Bruce’s anger.

It’s visceral, it’s alive and it wants to consume him whole. Joker wants to nurture it, to feed it and watch the Bat sink further until he can’t make heads or tails of what’s up or down. “You’re gonna have to try harder than this...Brucey!” He snorts, blocking a punch with his arm, finally getting some bite back into his veins as he loops their fingers together and holds one fist away. “Where’s all that training of yours Hrm? Down the drain?” He mocks just as easily as he squirms pushing back against the weight trying to crush him, turn him into dust.

That’s asking for it if Batman has ever heard it. The bottom of his black boot collides with Joker’s chest hard enough to snap ribs, kicking him back onto the dirty roof. It’s wet with rain, not as muddy as the road but still slick. Filthy like the clown he’s sending down into it. “I will.”

Batman is down in the dirt now too, pinning him down with his weight, sat on his thighs. He grabs him with a bulky glove, yanking him up off his shoulders by the collar to hit him. Hit him again. “You’ll - be - fucking - sorry.” He shifts, yanking him forward, looking to draw blood.
