Welp, it's a good thing I was awake and in the kitchen. Within easy reach of this, which we never needed before!
Because that used to be my power bank 😳
Maybe I dropped it one time too many, who knows. But, it was plugged in charging in the kitchen (for a couple of hours), and it just suddenly decided to vent.
I did get the initial flare--plus a box it had caught on fire 😨--put out, and rushed it out the back door onto the patio. I actually managed to drop it off the dustpan on the way out, but luckily it didn't flare again then. But, that's how it picked up that shopping bag in the uproar.
It flared a couple more times out there, but things seem to have calmed down.
Part of the kitchen has a bunch of fire extinguisher powder I don't feel like cleaning up right now, and the smell is still horrible. Good thing it's hovering around 50F/10C, with all the windows on that side of the house and the back door wide open for ventilation now.
But, nothing actually burned down! *fingers crossed*
So yeah, one illustration of why it might be a good idea to keep fire extinguishers around. And charge lithium batteries in as fireproof a location as possible, just in case. 😑
