Here, all drawings I made for the PokemonXYWeek2024

La nuit
The battle facilities in the mainline Pokémon games are funny because in most of the Pokémon world, battle facilities are skyscrapers, miniature cities, or fancy houses. You know, proper buildings. Battle facilities in the United States-inspired regions? A subway system and a giant tree.
What she says: I hate the battle facilities in Pokémon games. They’re so boring.
What she means: I got through twenty battles one time in the Battle Maison, my 3DS powered off, and I was so upset with the world I vowed to never use them again.
Submas Vs., Attempt 2:
You know how the other day my run went pretty well and got me to 10 straight wins (plus the one previous win), so I was sitting pretty at 11? Yeah, I lost immediately after that.
The second run was the same - 11 wins before losing. After a break to reevaluate my strategy, I managed to get to 14 wins on run 3. Run 4 was even better - 16 wins before finally going down. Run 5 was back to 14 wins. The biggest roadblock was a Rhyhorn with the ability Lightning Rod - this ability prevented Eelektross from hitting anyone else as long as Rhyhorn was on the field, and Eelektross's attacks didn't damage Rhyhorn at all. I'd often not even get a chance to hit it with Gastro Acid before the rest of the team was down and Eelektross was alone.
Luckily, run 6 was the charm, and I got to meet Evelyn:
Evelyn is very anxious, so I feel bad about doing doubles first, but it’s what I’m myself best at, so doubles it was.
Right off the bat, things didn’t go too well for me. Evelyn’s Primeape has Stone Edge, which I forgot about, and Ingo’s Chandelure went down on turn 1. I had Eelektross Thunder Wave the Primeape and pulled out Ingo’s other Pokemon, Haxorus, to fill the slot. Pachirisu switched into Lumineon, which hit our team with Surf, and I thanked my stars I hadn’t pulled in Archeops too early.
Pachirisu managed to come back in and hit Haxorus with Super Fang, though, and its days were numbered. It didn’t stay in very long, although Primeape was at least removed before that. Unfortunately the Primeape was replaced by the Life Orb Persian. I had Eelektross paralyze that as well to keep speed on my side, and eventually it inevitably came down to the Persian and Pachirisu against Emmet’s two representatives, Eelektross and Archeops.
Archeops had some trouble in the matches getting to this point. A lot of opponents had Stone Edge, and Archeops would often be switched in only to be one-shotted before it could do much of anything. When it was able to stay around, however, it was a powerhouse, usually moving first and often getting double flinches from the other team with Rock Slide. It was its other spread move, Earthquake, that proved crucial in this matchup, however. It was super effective against Electric-type Pachirisu, and it did a fair amount of damage to Persian, as well, with Eelektross being able to hit Persian as well to tack on some extra damage.
Eelektross could not, however, damage Pachirisu due to its Volt Absorb ability - all of Emmet’s Eelektross’s damage-dealing moves are Electric-type (Discharge and Thunderbolt), and Pachirisu couldn’t be paralyzed due to its typing. It was up to Archeops to do the heavy lifting despite its Flying-type making it vulnerable to Volt Switch from Pachirisu. Luckily, it had Protect in its arsenal, so I had it use the move every other turn as Eelektross worked on cleaning up as much as possible during that time and then having Archeops use Earthquake, which Eelektross was immune to, on alternate turns. Eventually it was down to just Pachirisu, and I had Eelektross use Gastro Acid to remove the Volt Absorb ability...
...but Archeops moved first, and Earthquake finally removed Pachirisu from the field, Sitrus Berry and all.
And that was that! After six tries, I managed to get the Submas team through to 20 wins!
Regarding the battle with Evelyn - Emmet’s Pokemon carried it. Ingo was down one immediately, and Haxorus didn’t stick around too much longer after that. Emmet picked his brother up and happily carried him (probably much to Ingo’s chagrin) and got it done. But to be fair, Emmet’s Pokemon are more optimized for doubles - Ingo’s are primarily used in singles - so that may have had something to do with it.
Either way, I might as well get ready to try to win 50 doubles matches in a row now with this team or give singles a go, but this has been a success so far!
