Court - Jabreen Castle, 2019
Hey everyone!
You know that law, I can’t remember what it’s called, but the one where everything takes longer than you think it will, even when you know it it will take longer, it takes longer than that?
That applies to every pack I make I swear :D Anyway, this castles and keeps buildings sketch assets pack took longer than I thought because it was a pretty technical and fiddly process to get all the little battlements correctly lined up and even, plus Gextroll on Discord mentioned the towers and walls would look good with machicolations (Kind of like murder holes to throw things down at the enemy) so I just couldn’t resist making all those as well! I also wanted to make ruined versions of these but there just wasn’t enough space, so that will be another pack!
I think this is just an awesome pack though, so much detail for making amazing castle/town/city maps! Let me know what you think of this pack and what you would like to see next!
This Pack is available for $3+ Tier Patrons!
Today's Walking Photo: When planning your front yard battlements, don’t overlook the intimidating power of hand-painted rocks in bold and bright colors.
I’m also fond of the fact that the angle of this photo makes it look like the Ford Escort is walled in and cannot leave the compound.
And then... like a 200-tonne-wet-fish, slapped upon the battlefield by an angry Manann, The Huntress appears on the horizon to ruin everyone's day... . #mordheim #RtheC #warhammer #aos #wargaming #tabletop #ageofsigmar #tabletopwargames #paintingminis #pirates #sartosa #TheHuntress #LandShip #BronzeStatue #aos28 #darkageofsigmar #coast #jungle #palmtrees #battlement #tower https://www.instagram.com/p/CMHcXA3HLWC/?igshid=afgovvohfc7y
A battlement in defensive architecture, such as that of city walls or castles, comprises a parapet (i.e., a defensive low wall between chest-height and head-height), in which gaps or indentations, which are often rectangular, occur at intervals to allow for the launch of arrows or other projectiles. This fortification feature (battlements) is often called crenellations because the tops of the parapets are crenellated. The spaces in the parapet wall are called crenels or embrasures. The uprights in the parapet wall are called merlons. parapet | ˈperəpət noun a low protective wall along the edge of a roof, bridge, or balcony. crenellate | ˈkrenəˌlāt | (also crenelate) verb [with object] (usually as adjective crenellated) chiefly historical to provide (a wall of a building) with battlements.
Rheinstein Castle, from Wikipedia “The castle was constructed in about 1316/1317. Rheinstein Castle was important for its strategic location. By 1344, the castle was in decline. By the time of the Palatine War of Succession, the castle was very dilapidated. During the romantic period in the 19th century, Prince Frederick of Prussia (1794–1863) bought the castle and it was rebuilt. “
