Rune Meditation - Eihwaz

I was on top of a defensive wall around a city. An army was approaching in the distance. Next to me was Eihwaz and many archers, all shooting arrows towards the oncoming army. (Eihwaz was a muscular man in light metal armor.) Eihwaz said it's about recognizing the opposition from as far away as you can so you can fight it off as easily as possible. It becomes harder to fight the closer it gets. He said whether you are shooting arrows from a distance or engaging in hand to hand combat, you must know what you are protecting from the opposition and have the willingness to fight for it. He said if he (eihwaz) appears to me (like in a dream, vision, meditation, etc.), it is a sign to prepare my defenses and fight - there is a threat on the horizon, if not closer. The goal is to fight off whatever it is before it becomes a truly serious threat.
