The really delightful thing about this fic is that Natasha thinks that she knows everything and she's keeping Bruce in the dark but she's so painfully wrong lol.
"Natasha hadn’t noticed any change in his behavior since her arrival, nothing major like a breakup would cause, but it was possible Bruce thought she didn’t know. After all, Alfred had been the one to tell her, not Bruce. An oversight on his part, really. There was very little she either didn’t know or couldn’t find out if given some time." like girl that's because he's acting just as much as you are!! This is so overconfident for someone who doesn't even know her fiancé is Batman!
And then there's Bruce, who knows that he doesn't know everything and it is distressing!! He wants answers but he just straight up doesn't know, and worse, he doesn't know how much he doesn't know. He knows more than Natasha thinks he does, but he doesn't know the full extent of what she's doing. He doesn't know how many layers there are at play here, he doesn't know how much of what he knows is what she wants him to think, and he doesn't know what information to trust. Yes, Talia told him some things, but she's still Talia. He loves her but he really can't trust everything she says.
Natasha's confidence in herself and her training is going to betray her, and Bruce's overthinking and caution are slowing him down. The only reason he can't figure out her angle is because he has a billion other things on his plate and is stressed out of his mind. The only reason she hasn't figured out the Batman thing yet is that she doesn't care. If she decided to, she could figure it out without much effort. If he thought it was the right move, he could tell her immediately that he knows why she's there. But both of them have such skewed priorities that they're not going to.
