K:- Hey Eclipse, a Question. If you were going to do a crossover with BG3 and Dragon age, what locations and characters would you use?
E:-Ohhh that's a good question.
Gale for one, even if there is no Tav/Protag most agree he is the main character due to what he has to go through. And his magical abilities put him very high up and he would have done much action in showing how to use magic as he is a professor.
K:- I know!
Even just deciding if it's the BG3 in the DA world, or if DA characters are going to end up in BG would take awhile to decide, let alone the cast.
E:-Lae'zel as well, she is proof that there are worlds beyond what people expect. Laezel has crossed the stars and other planets as gith tend to lay down and make forts. So realistically it would be Laezel who can show up in Dragon Age canonically.
K:- Or even a fusion. Circle mage Gale? Or would Wynne be a professor at the magic university in a the BG world.
E:- Well DA being fused into BG3 would be interesting seeing how they have wildly different approach to races, power structure and magic use.
K:- Yah that would take a while to work out.
E:-Cause the Dalish are gonna have a wild time with the Drows. Who hate everyone and everyone hates them.
Neither society is perfect, and I can see a mass migration of city elves to BG3 due to the fact they can absolutely have a normal life albeit struggle cause Baldurs Gate was heavily overrun by refugee from the Hells.
K:- Asterion coming into DA and getting wildly pissed at the elf prosecution and starting the next elvish uprising!
E:- Actually, depending on what version we are using.
K:- true.
E:-More often than not, Astarion wouldn't care unless it affected him. He's quite racist towards gnomes and shorter races
And he also dislikes Drows.
K:-Elvish persecution does affect him being an elf.
E:- But I want to add in, while playing a more good natured Tav he does show dislike towards helping people.
He also while enslaved does dream of taking that same power and enslave others.
He would save himself than help, but that is because after 200 years he learned very harshly that no one is going to save you.
So Astarion is going to need someone to steer him straight.
K:- I just picture him getting angry at it, deciding to do something about the racists, and accidentally being lauded as the DA equivalent of the Mockingjay.
It was funnier in my head I guess.
E:-Lmao haha. Nah I can see jt.
Somehow he gets into this position of power and he would absolutely relish it.
Don't let his nature discourage you, give him an emotional support buddy and he would (eventually) pick good choices on his own.
Honestly I would like to see him and Alistair meet.
My God.
The barbs shot out between him and Solas.
K:-If nothing else he could become the next Arl of Deneriam through right of conquest. Vaughan deserves to die for sure. And so does Urian for raising him.
E:-Omg 🤣🤣🤣
K:- I know Urian is said to be an OK guy, but dude at least try to teach your heir morals. Stupid absentee parent.
E:- Absentee parents. Parent and shit Stepmom too.
"Well, that explain everything”
Surprisingly enough, even at his lowest, Astarion is very adamant in making sure you have control of your choices and self.
K:-Vaughan had a stepmom? I hadn't remembered.
E:- Sorry was thinking of Alistair step mom
But that guy, that guy Astarion would gladly end.
K:- Very few wouldn't want to kill Vaughan.
E:- Not lost love there for sure
K:- Now I'm imagining stupid shit happening to Asterion for the sake of stupid shit happening to Asterion.
Asterion gets mistaken as "too pretty to be a guy" and gets and kidnapped alongside the rest of the bridal party after the attacker rolls a critical hit after the ambush.
Wakes up in the dungeons Pissed and when Soris comes to free them demands to come along so he can tear out his throat with his bare hands.
That or its Shiannis lucky day and Tarbis and Soris show up to Kill Vaughan and Asterion has already done it and meets them on the way out killing guards.
E:-. Oh that could definitely happen. And his bloodlust would be thrumming.
K:-Few targets would be more deserving. What other nonsense do you think would happen to him?
E:- Him getting our mabari going," ugh it's drooling everywhere" but secretly playing ball with him.
Most of the party in BG3 loves Scratch, and if Scratch is given away or does Astarion is audibly sniffling.
K:-Asterion could get dogadopted.
E:- He would absolutely be fine with it, he'll complain but it's with affection.
K:-What would he name it?
...Could a vampire become a grey warden?
E:- That is a good question. He doesn't have pets canonically so I guess we would have to check or Alistair names it.
I can't see why not.
K:- Cause like hes already dead, and long term wardning means eventual transformation into a ghoul, which is when they go to the deep road and kill as many dark spawn as they can.
E:- "Ugh first this parasite now I drink this sludge and what exactly?" He turns around, his arms thrown out in palpable anger," that's right! Into a hideous ghoul!"
K:- And could that happen just from drinking dark spawn blood or are the other ingredients important too? But maybe being undead to begin with means blood is enough?
Accidental wardning via drinking tainted blood… And being undead.
He would need to in a tainted area and starving.
Wait, what if pre- parasite asterion ends up in a blighted area of fereldan. He hides in the dark and eats the blighted animals until the accidental wardening effect of the taint comb ip nes with his vampire undead and gives him immunity to sunlight. Accidental grey warden. He then wanders until he gets picked up by the elf wedding party headed to the Denerium elf alienage, where he gets invited to a wedding then kidnapped.
If he is still parasitised, would the taint and the bug fight? Like his immune system is having a shitfit? Would his sire connection also be throwing down in there?
Could the taint, Taint the parasite?
I have a lot of questions
Also I think his dialogue choices would harden Alister.
E:- Now so do I.
Love your brain K
I say he would hold off on eating since in Gales run he tries to drink from him and immediately vomits cause it's tainted.
Man is desperate, hungry, and wild with freedom away from Cazador.
The parasite is definitely a big boost, despite being a worm in the head. With its powers even at one, gives you mental abilities. The parasite is so strong it neutralized the vampire defect of burning in the sun.
While still maintaining the powers of vampires.
K:- Can we say for certain the water is taint free?
E:- Ugh man that's a good question. Lmao seeing as most of the water I had I used to wash
My party was drunk halfway through the fights K
Astarion drinks wine alot, and lmao I can see him stumbling into the fight.
"Why didn't you drink water?!"
"There was water?”
Actually now that I think of it he mainly drinks wine or water. Or blood
I don't think he can eat food. OKAY!
So like yes he can eat normal food but it doesn't sustain him and it's tasteless to him or taste like vinegar.
K imagine the wardens walking on him going feral on eating a rat.
Or just Alistair stopping partway into a clearing and pauses when he sees a pretty half feral elven man with a rat between his teeth and wild eyes.
His first non blighted infected rat.
He also hunts for his own meals usually animals, and only drinks human blood after drinking Tav (permission). He hasn't drunk human blood before; Cazador had forbidden it.
K:- Asterion arrives in a strange and terrible place. Where the animals taste terrible. The water tastes terrible. Everything is strange. And terrible.
He passes out on the floor for who knows how long.
Ok- he thinks to himself. He has to risk the sun. He has to get out of here no matter what.
He walks. His feet blister. He keeps walking. Eventually he realizes the sun has long since risen and is no longer hidden behind clouds. He feels terrible. But also elated.
Whatever the hell happened, at least he can feel the sun. It's strange. Not terrible. Or maybe beautiful in a terrible sort of way.
E:-Having been forced to live his days in the night, he had forgotten how ...colorful the day is.
K:- I should have remembered to mention his strange and terrible dream when he knocked out.
Asterion actively eating regular food in Hope's that the taste of vinegar will chase the taste of the Taint from his mouth
E:- Ugh stop it. You make me wanna play.
K YOU'RE BRINGING ME BACK TO THE WARDENS AGAIN. I miss them.
K:- I miss them too. I should start a new playthrough.
E:- Lamo. If they're a Hawke a safe distance is necessary.
K:- The human mage in the first game, and the Hawkes of the second game are cousins.
Also the golem of the first game is the ancestor of Dwarvern Inquisitor.
Shale is of house Cadash.
E:- it's all connected K
K:- Would warden Asterion have a kid with morrigan? Would he make Alister do it?
E:- I don't think he would.
K:- Even if the kid would save their lives? So she says. (It does).
E:- On both parts I mean. For Astarion even if he and Alister don't become close; is adamantly against the idea of Alister doing it.
On both parts I mean. For Astarion even if he and Alister don't become close; is adamantly against the idea of Alister doing it. He also wants to live and the fact this. THIS coercion is what makes him furious and genuinely scared.
K:- And what would he make of the warden companions?-
Its understandable that its angering.
Being in charge in this game at times involves doing things you don't want to do and making others do things they don't want to do too.
After all the warden can join the order willingly or be conscripted
You can play the mage route orgin by tattling on your friend and going along with his scheme to get enough evidence.
If you go along on him of your own volition you are going to become a warden or tranquil. But if you were getting the evidence you are fine, and so Duncan conscripts you into the wardens.
Cousland Joins to save them from their family is massacrue, Auducan is exiled on the deep roads, Brosca is conscripted from Prison, Tarbris is conscripted from being arrested after the romp of vengeance, Mahariel got infected with the taint from a mirror and their only chance of survival is joining the wardens.
Would Asterion be able to figure out how to settle the conflict between the elves and the werewolves without massacre?
Also, who fells the archdeamon and becomes memorialized then?
E:- Shiiiiit. Those are very good questions.
K:- Most of your wardens became wardens because they were out of other options. Some people join voluntarily because there is good propaganda about it. But only upon becoming a warden do you learn that you are fucked
E:- Astarion really really has to depend on him. The worm is a worm already forced in him, and frankly I think he already had enough of this seeing he has a slave contract on his back
K:- You will either die nobly fighting them, or die nobly fighting on the deep roads hoping you get killed before turning into some kind of ghoul.
E:- If he drinks and is still alive after watching everyone die, I think he would be beyond Livid
K:- I was kind of thinking he drank enough blood on the road that the other wardens meet him and assume he is already a warden, seeing as they can feel he has the taint.
I'm combining drinking the taint and being undead into turning him into an equivalent warden.
-I wish Davith had survivied.
Of course some people are trying to work on a cure. As of the current timeline its unclear if its suceeded.
"Grey Wardens take in the taint when they undergo their Joining. The Joining slows the taint's rate of corruption in their bodies, allowing the Grey Wardens a period of immunity to the taint and other advantages before their bodies succumb to deterioration”
E:- I hope they find the cure.
K:- "Becoming a Grey Warden requires a dose of the darkspawn corruption of sufficient potency to have an immediate effect, rather than slowly corrupt the consumer into a ghoul. While Archdemon blood is typically used, since it is one of the rarest substances in all Thedas, blood of other darkspawn creatures can also be magically treated to make it function in the ritual if Archdemon blood isn't available. "
Huh. I am relying a lot on the vampire aspect to prevent him from becoming a ghoul.
“ The Joining ritual grants Grey Wardens two abilities: they become linked to the darkspawn's hive-mind, which allows them to detect the presence of darkspawn, and they become immune to further corruption by the Blight. Over time, the Grey Warden's ability to sense darkspawn gets stronger but conversely, the darkspawn will also be able to sense them as well. At that point, Grey Wardens may be able to sneak past smaller groups, but larger groups or particularly intelligent darkspawn will always detect them.
Grey Wardens also suffer from decreased fertility and shortened lifespans (most Wardens have only thirty years at most after their Joining before the taint consumes them). Many of the Wardens also experience ravenous hunger for a period following the Joining, and some become physically more robust."
Getting a potential cure involves working with Avernus, which is pretty fucked up in it's own right.
E:- uugh true.
K:- You can order him to be ethical. But do you follow that up?
(Wardens in a blight have less time before their calling comes. 30 years is upper limit. A blight warden might be lucky for 15)
“The Grey Wardens are open to men and women from every race, nation and background, even criminals. They also accept volunteers, and elves in particular tend to be eager to submit themselves for the Grey Wardens, as they recruit regardless of social standing and serving is considered by many an honor.
One mage in every Circle of Magi is traditionally recruited, usually joining the Order after their Harrowings. The young mage recruit serves as a Warden their entire life from then on. Similar to serving a ruler, yet greatly removed from the degradation they may normally face in society, mage Wardens are given great respect and importance in the Order. Their facilitation of the Joining ritual is essential.
Should they need to, the Grey Wardens possess the Right of Conscription, an authority that dates back to the end of the First Blight and was given to them to ensure they will always have enough members. By using this Right, a Warden may demand that, instantly and irrevocably, any individual from king to criminal be drafted into their ranks, and the conscript cannot refuse being recruited once the Right is invoked. This is specially true in times of Blight.
However, in contemporary times the Right of Conscription is used sparingly for fear of political reprisal, due to the low standing the Order has in some countries—especially in Ferelden. The Grey Wardens prefer to not invoke the Right unless there is no other option, and usually is invoked only to quell protest from a recruit's lords or commanders."
“Duncan was recruited via the Right of Conscription, after he refused the offer originally. As he was about to be executed at the time for killing another Warden, Guy, this caused political trouble both from within and outside the Wardens.
Duncan used the Right to get Alistair out of his Templar training when the Chantry's Grand cleric resisted. The Right can also be used on the Warden during their origin to ensure that they join the Grey Wardens. It is used automatically on the City Elf, Dwarven Commoner, Dwarven Noble, and Mage to spare them from various grisly fates, and can be used on the Dalish Elf, Mage, or Human Noble if they initially refuse Duncan's offer.”
The Warden-Commander can choose to use the Right of Conscription to recruit both Anders and Nathaniel Howe.
After the outbreak of the Mage-Templar War, the First Enchanter of the Hossberg Circle sends a request for aid to Weisshaupt Fortress; in response, the Wardens invoke the Right of Conscription, proclaiming that any mage who wished to escape the fighting by joining the Wardens would be welcome in their ranks, and that such mages are not to be troubled by the templars.
A Grey Warden Rook can choose to use the Right of Conscription to recruit Julius, the corrupt Mayor of D'Meta's Crossing after catching him attempting to abandon his people after having sold them out to the Blighted Elven Gods Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain.
While most people believe that someone must truly hate darkspawn to join the Grey Wardens, in most cases the potential recruits are just responsible individuals with a strong sense of will. In fact, most Grey Wardens see their first darkspawn only after becoming initiates of the Order. More so, veteran Wardens consider that having a personal hatred of the darkspawn can be detrimental to a Warden if it leads them to make rash and irrational decisions.
The Grey Wardens don't accept just anyone within their ranks, however. Only the best and brightest are allowed. Recruits suffer excruciating tests to determine if they are worthy of being members of the Order. In addition, the fact that the Joining ritual kills many of its participants means that the draft may turn out to be a death sentence. While this is seen as unfortunate, this process elevates their membership to the highest caliber. To face a Grey Warden in combat, is to face an elite and deadly opponent.
Even if a Grey Warden were to abandon their duty, the Grey Wardens will either drag them back or their Calling and connection to the darkspawn will lead the darkspawn to eventually find them.
Generally, Grey Wardens are supposed to be politically neutral and thus they strive to preclude their involvement in any political struggles. Despite their claim that their cause is apolitical, they occasionally break these guidelines—sometimes justifying it as a necessity of survival or for personal reasons.”-
E:- Once again, me missing the Grey Wardens.
K:- “The Grey Wardens are aware that they are fighting a war of attrition against the darkspawn, and that they are in the losing side. Because of that, they know that they will have to use whatever tactic they can devise, no matter how unorthodox, to win in the end. And so, they acquire whatever resources they can regardless of the method, and employ whomever they must, regardless of their defects of morals or character. They often turn a blind eye to blood magic, deal with demons of the Fade, and do whatever else they must so long as those efforts led to the Blight's end.”
E:- Pragmatic. And I can't blame them.
… NGL Started to ship Astarion and Alistair.
K:- I think he would harden him. In both senses. Do you want Male Cousland there to marry Anora? (And let Alister and Asterion go lead the Grey Wardens?)
A female warden to make him face moral dilemmas (should one of us sleep with a witch we dont want to sleep with in the faint hope we can both survive this thing?)
Will their relationship survive Alister potentially being king?
I think Asterion would find Morrigan kind of funny, if nothing else. …When she doesnt want him to have ritual sex with her. Admitibly to try to save their lives and prevent at least one god from being vanquished and such.
E:- Seeing as I romanced him as a mostly good aligned hero, he also grapples with it.
He would find Morgan funny lol.
K:- Asterion, preparing to sleep with Morrgian (I hope this saves both of our lives)
Allister preparing to slay the archdeamon (I hope this saves this vampires unlife)
E:- True true.
Awww.
Yeah I can see Astarion taking one for the team. He won't like the coercion but we gotta live.
(I saw this as he was not opposed to having sex on his own grave with a romanced Tav(actually he was very willing to have sex on his grave haha)
K:- Well, we know it will save him, but he doesn't. Its a hope in hell to them.
Astarion but bald looks like cunty Solas
The bg3 brainrot...it's got me...send...help
LOOK AT MY TWO LOSERS I LOVE THEM 😭💚
I mean... I guess people thought I needed BG3 shit.
Owlbear plush figure!
So, I have this thing I do in BG3 where I collect stuffed animals and set one down at everyone's little section in camp. Clive gets a mate. Astarion gets an Owlbear and a teddy, Wyll needs a snuggle buddy... Etcetera and so on for each companion.
Why? Simple. It amuses me. All these people need therapy. Instead, thou must settle for an exquisite plush that Riven has pilfered and thrown into your personal space with zero ulterior motive...
Now hug it, damn it!
[I don't even know where the "You are not alone in this." originates as of yet. Don't tell me. /smirk.]
Hoodie is cool AF because it's embroidered.
Playing Bauldurs Gate for the first time and I’m trying so hard to like Astarian but he pisses me ooooooff.
The things I do to sate my curiosity.
Below: Dis Rivka - She was created simply to try to romance Gale or Halsin. Honestly, she reminds me of the Jolly Green Giant. I cannot take her seriously. She will absolutely be forgotten. Deleted. Erased. Thems just facts.
Astarion's facial expression- like, wait, what? Who in the hells are you and where is Riven?!
[Rivka is NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH MY ONE TRUE LOVE: Riven. Drow Durge. Nice to meet ya. Look at that beautiful, cocky bitch.]
Hard to get into Rivka's play because I miss Riven and Astarion [aka AstaRiven]. Astarion's vibes with Rivka are completely different than the IMMACULATE vibes he has with Riven.
Anyway.
This.
Astarion chatting with my off-brand TAV, Rivka:
I "needed" these GIFS because I can use them in a variety of situations.
And I am nothing if not generous. Ignore all the strings attached and enjoy deceptively free GIFs!
