Summary:

Catra got the opportunity to perform on the VMAs main stage and she used it to make it obvious to everyone what popstar her breakup songs are about – Adora included, because she didn’t even know Catra was making music until she was watching from the side of the stage. The public has front row seats to watch as their feud and relationship unfolds online, in the tabloids, and through fan interactions. As public figures, everything about their story is told through the public eye, and interpretation of their music isn’t up to them anymore. (Or, my third popstar Catradora AU but let’s not talk about that)

Around now is when participants in the 6th anniversary @spopbigbang start posting blurbs of their fics as a preview of the event starting on May 12th, but given my fic is... not conducive to blurbs this year, I thought the best way to preview it wouldn’t be a screenshot from the fic, but to give you a link to show exactly how deep I've gone on this.

Click the link. “kinda smacks” acts as a preview of both the story and how POP FEUD is told: the way the public experiences celebrity relationships in tweets, articles, blind items & rumors, and music. This fic is in collaboration with @metalesbo, who has done some amazing art for it and also is the entire reason it’s eight chapters, so I can’t wait to share it with y’all! It’s a first for me in multiple ways, but now you might understand why my hiatus was so long: I was losing my goddamn mind in HTML/CSS mazes. I can't wait to finally post this because it has completely possessed me the last few months

POP FEUD Fic Notes

After writing and working on HTML for 23 days straight, spending two months adding bells and whistles and tweets until this thing could fucking drive, and posting it for seven days, POP FEUD is finally done 😭 Realistically I have fics I’ve worked harder on writing, but this certainly felt like the most work I’ve ever put into a fic simply because HTML is not nearly as fun as writing lmao. This is my socmed magnus opus. If I ever say I want to do another socmed fic, Old Yeller me and I’m serious.

Anyway, these fic notes are beastly since the nature of the fic means a lot of things went unsaid, to the point I just could not keep track of things in one post, so this is the directory to the actual fic notes because yes, even these have to be complicated. I’m insane!! Anyway see all the fic notes posts as well as the credits for all the workskins and icons that I used and the links to the art!

This fic doesn’t have an epilogue section because I kind of already showed their epilogue is continuing to make music, climb the charts, and be gay for each other, and I’m also going to cover where the fic diverged from the original idea throughout the chapter notes this time instead of breaking it out to its own section.
