Watching the knight walk past your room, you picked up the book you were reading and cursed under your breath.

“I can’t believe I fell for him...” you whispered.

Sir Gwaine. Your best friend. Now, apparently you were in love with him, and you knew damn well he didn’t feel the same.

Sighing you placed down the book and payed down staring at the ceiling.

“Why do I have to love someone who doesn’t love me...?” You asked quietly.

“Talking to yourself?”

Gwaine peered down at you and you gave him a fake smile.

“Just thinking. Why are you here?”

Gwaine grinned brightly, the same grin that made your heart stop.

“I’m going on a date! Thought I’d come say hi.”

You regretted asking.

“Have fun.” You smiled softly.

“Thanks! I’ll come see you later.”

Nodding, you waited a few minutes after he left and let the tears well up in your eyes. How you wished it was You he was going on a date with, you wished he was that excited to see you.

But his heart didn’t belong to you.

It never did.

And as far as you could tell, it never would
