Cardio Power and Resistance - Beachbody Insanity Day 3 - July 11th 2018
Workout: attempted.
Completed? Not so much, to be honest.
I managed to get through the warm-up, going on my own pace, and not so fast in the subsequent sets. I got really out of breath at the end of the warm-up.
Somehow I made it through the stretching, stopping once or twice.
The first circuit got me upset from the start (not a fan of power jumps), and it was fine in the middle, but the V-push-ups only scream injury in my head.
In the Second Circuit, I had fun with the hurdle jumps, and then the Globe Jumps got me hard (heart rate spiked too high) so; I had to pause before continuing. Moving push-ups – I like the idea, but I’m not there yet BUT I was pretty content at being able to do regular full body push-ups (in small sets of 4-5, pause for a bit, and continue). Floor sprints are what I usually call Mountain Climbers. Crazy is the two curveballs Shaun usually throws at the end of the circuit. Like: ‘if you weren’t sore until now (as if), then I will make sure you’re gonna be.’ And the stretches – I am really starting to like them. (In the beginning, I thought it was going to be too much for my knees, because of lunges and all, but so far, so good.)
Cardio Power & Resistance
Warm Up: Jogging, Power Jacks, Log Jumps, 123-123, Butt Kicks, High knees, Vertical Jumps (30 secs each exercise, repeated on a loop, no rest in between sets, 3 times, each set faster).
Stretches: Backstretch, Lunges, Hamstring Stretch Hip Flexor stretch, Warrior pose, Knees in and out (90 degrees angle), Deep Side Lunge, Quadriceps Stretch.
Circuit 1: 4 exercises (equals 1 set), 30 seconds each exercise, 3 times each set, 30 sec rest between sets, each time again executed faster.
Power Jumps (I sucked)
Belt Kicks
Hit the Floor
V-Push-ups ( I legit didn’t get this exercise, and I don’t think I performed it well at all)
In the last set, he added: Triceps Dips, Triceps Dips with Legs up (right, then left), 30 seconds break, then the Triceps Ball Push-ups. (Managed less than half)
Comments: To start with the circuit: power jumps. Are you kidding me? It put me off because I can’t jump high. I did try them though. The ‘belt kicks’ and ‘hit the floor’ were my favorites in this one. Guess why? No jumping
V-push-ups were weird. In my head, for some reason, getting into that position (head down, butt up in the air, legs straight, tiptoes like oɅ ) after all that it’s just asking to have a LOT of blood rushing to my head and try and do push-ups focusing on my triceps – I don’t know. I don’t have that much strength in my arms ( yet).
Circuit 2: 4 exercises (equals 1 set), 30 seconds each exercise, 3 times each set, 30 sec rest between sets, each time again executed faster.
Hurdle Jumps
Globe Jumps (4 small jumps in a square – right, back, left, front) (Oh Lord)
Moving Push-ups ( need to get the hang of it)
Floor Sprints (or what I call mountain climbers) – Finally something I’ve actually done before!
In the last set, he added: 8 squat pulses and 8 push-ups.
Comments: As I said before, I had fun with the hurdle jumps. For some reason, it reminded me of some warm-ups I used to do when I played volleyball...The Globe Jumps threw me off balance and got my heart rate way too high to be able to go straight to the floor and do a push-up.
Every set of this circuit, I had to stop after globe jumps, wait for my pressure to normalize a bit and go on with pushups.
ALSO: I don’t have (yet) enough strength to do a moving push-up – so I doing steady push-ups for this week.
Floor sprints aka mountain climbers where I come from. Yay, something I know how to do - I somehow managed to do it.
Stretches: same as before.
Overall: The workouts are getting a bit harder, some exercises (for me) are quite difficult to keep up with the pace in the video ( I salute all those people in all these workout videos – these people inspire me) – So I am attempting to do it on my own pace. I just got so strained so fast today ( I thought maybe I would start to get my conditioning a bit better by now but I sucked.) I had to pause way too many times. A workout that in the video is 40 minutes, it took me close to one hour to finish. That made me upset - mind you: with myself.
As of now: I am extremely sore.
And because the workouts are that intense – I have to make sure I am eating well enough to have energy during the workout and also to nourish my body well afterward. (meaning: I sweat a lot. Like really a lot that's not even funny, the towel legit looks disgusting. So after I do need to go straight to shower to get those minerals back)
BUT I am sleeping like a baby these last two days. (Meaning I legit sleep in the same position the whole night) LOL
