As someone who’s had glasses since I was 4, and took a year off a few years back to try out contacts... the gestures are /really annoying/ when you’re not wearing glasses. I don’t know how many times I almost poked myself in the eye, or scratched myself, or whatever, trying to reach for something that wasn’t there.

But it’s also other, more subtle gestures? You can generally get over the “reaching to adjust glasses” habit after a month or two, except when you’re really out of it and not paying attention. But other gestures that you don’t even think about are affected by wearing glasses?

Like rubbing at your eyes, or pinching the bridge of your nose, or scratching at your eyebrows? You get used to flattening or cupping your hand in a specific way to do those actions without touching your lenses, and THAT stays longer, because it’s not as obvious TO YOU. And most people would see it and go “huh, whatever” and not really think about it? Except that a perceptive person, who does the same type of motions, will notice the discrepancy in the hand shape or motion (ex: positioning the fingers at or just above the nostrils then sliding the hand up to the bridge of the nose in order to push the nose guards out of the way, instead of just going straight for the bridge)

And really, it’s nothing super obvious. You can get those sorts of motions even without having glasses, there’s nothing preventing that. But it’s just another level of suspicion that Uryuu has.
