I've been in the darkness and it almost consumed me...

It took hitting rock bottom to realize that I have control over my immediate situation-- I can't change the past and the future isn't in hand-- all I am is in the present.

All I have is what's in front of me.

I learned who I am by what skills I possessed and assessing why I liked things and why I didn't. I chose the skills I wanted to get better at and those I wanted to gain; I tried to experience things with a completely open mind.

Then I let a lot of expectations go and appreciated things and people for being exactly what and who they were.

I started building on the parts of me I wanted better.

I stopped comparing.

Instead, I found the things I envied about that person and achieved it.

Eventually, I became someone I'm proud of.

...and now I create the light that consumes the dark.
