If they really were true love at all ... they'd not misuse a single moment proving it because they'd be way too busy just being it!

I've been seeing a lot more instances of people (especially in kpop communities) asking if they need to buy x, y, and z to be considered a "real fan" of a group, and it's heartbreaking to me. So, as a veteran fangirl with decades of fandoms under my belt, let me share some wisdom with you: if you enjoy content, you are a fan. All you need to be a fan is to enjoy content and engage with it on the levels you're able to.
Being a fan of something does not cost money. you are not required to financially invest in things to prove your enjoyment is 'real'. People who act like that are elitist and, in my experience and opinion, fake fans, because all they seem to care about is clout. Enjoy things authentically and respectfully (with kindness in mind and with genuine excitement), and you're golden.
in 2014 on my old blog someone on here tried to cancel me for writing yaoi because i was “fetishizing gay men” and 11 years later i’m a hairy fag who STILL WRITES YAOI🧍♂️ what now
