“There are dozens of other non-canon pairings that I love, but this one dragged me kicking and screaming into Legends of Tomorrow (which I now adore). It was Mick’s look at Snart as he was dragged away from him, in maybe episode 3. It was “It’s where he grew up” from a Mick who knew Len’s history and cared. It was “what about my partner?” It was Snart’s face as he aimed the cold gun at Mick in the forest and couldn’t pull the trigger (have you ever seen him closer to tears)? It was Mick’s raised fist as he realised he couldn’t kill Snart in their fight, and collapsed next to him. It was “my old friend” and Snart’s sacrifice and Mick’s face as the Oculus was blowing up. It was Mick’s “I love you” to Snart’s ghost. Honestly, I don’t care if you see them as the most loyal of friends, a QPR, a ship, or you can’t decide like me because the power of their relationship is in its beautiful ambiguity.”
“You know my vote: It's ‘partner’ being said the way mlm of a certain age say it in the same tone as one now would say husband. It's the ways they communicate with a tip of the head, the way Len and Mick stand in each other's space and really don't feel the same degree of comfort with anyone else standing in their space. It's the looks they give each other, and how Len's heart breaks when Mick says he has nobody. It's the look in Len's eyes when he knows he has to shoot Mick and can't and the look of horror and disgust at himself in that scene with Len and Kronos. It's, "Nobody's going question men out in the middle of the night for a diaper run." It's, "We look out for each other. It's you and me." It's Rip's, "But you were part of a matched set." It's Mick's, "I love you too," to Len's ghost. It's, "My partner hasn't been acting like my partner since you." It's Phil Klemmer's, "Mick is a widower." It's Dom's, "Cold and Heatwave are soulmates." It's the way Len wore the ring Mick gave him on their first job together and then gave it to Mick.”
