The new oaklands content had me curious, whats Rowanstorms relationship with Stagcharge like? Are they close enough for him to see him as family or is he just his dads new mate?

They are sort of close, yes.

Rowanstorm's mom died when he was only 2 months old or so. Elmtail had had an unofficial relationship with Stagcharge for a long time before that. Many cats in Oak Colony are poly, so Beechleaf was aware and she was fine with it, she just wanted Elmtail to have love.

So, Stagcharge is kind of a step-dad figure to Rowanstorm. Vinestripe sees him as her little brother in a way too.

Beechleaf, Envoy of Oak Colony

She was Beechleaf, Rowanstorm's mother, who had passed seasons ago. Dawnfrost had only been a small kitten then, but she still knew Beechleaf by the gentle green eyes she had passed down to her son.

Elmtail and Beechleaf

Parents of Rowanstorm

Elmtail and Beechleaf were best friends their whole lives. The pear blossoms shown in this drawing symbolize lasting friendship. The two had a friendly rivalry and were great supports for one another, pushing each other to grow and improve. Beechleaf’s stocky frame was well-suited to using brute force in fights and holding her footing, but back at base, she approached her Colony gently and kindly. Beechleaf was an Envoy, but often helped train New-Claws with the Mentors, and would often be found tussling with them around the base. Her other best buddy was Stormclaw, and together they’d instigate quite a few fights at the borders. Beechleaf relished any chance to test her skills and prove Oak Colony’s strength.

Elmtail on the other paw has always been a soft tom with long legs and a narrow frame. He was always better at hunting than Beechleaf, and he still likes running. He and Beechleaf enjoyed challenging each other, but Elmtail would always win the races and Beechleaf would always win the fights.

While Beechleaf was pansexual and Elmstar is gay, both of them knew they wanted kittens and talked about it frequently. As the pair approached their Elder months, Beechleaf approached Elmtail about having a litter of kittens together, to fulfill their long held wishes. And so they had Rowanstorm. They were great co-parents and raised their son lovingly, but Beechleaf never quite recovered from her kitting. Beechleaf retired to the Elder life soon after Rowanstorm was born, feeling more worn out and weak. Frondsway speculates that her old age made the pregnancy especially stressful for Beechleaf’s body. The Elder enjoyed the time with her son and best friend, living just long enough to see Rowanstorm become a Ranger. Then, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
