14. if you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?

molly, you know as well as anyone that i could give a ted talk on any given thing the moment i'm given the permission to yap. i'm like a windup toy. that said, if i had to choose, i've been getting really into the community and personal psychology of high control groups and the people who experience them, caving incidents, and tornadoes/storms/meteorology lately. i am not remotely qualified to talk about any of these things, but i will.

as for stuff i'm actually qualified to give a ted talk about, probably storycrafting, adhd, or media analysis and how it works, lmao.

Happy birthday! In celebration I'm gonna give you a bunch of birthday related oc questions: I know you said Rue's birthday was earlier this month: is that her birthday as a character or her in-canon birthday? Does Rue know her own birthday? Does she celebrate it at all? And how do you headcanon the whole durge birth thing anyway?

the 8th of september is when i made her, so character birthday!! her canon birthday is the 21st of nightal (the day before the winter solstice) shes a winter baby in my heart, but even then that's the day her foster family found her. she doesnt know her "true" birthday!

i think during their final moments alone, rue asks gortash when her birthday is and he would tell her. so she does know eventually but it doesnt really feel right

until a few years into settling in with gale in waterdeep, she's used to not doing much on her birthday and he surprises her with a small party with all their friends and its the best day ever. theres cake and gifts and all the companions are somehow there and by the time the night ends everyone is passed out in the living room together :)

and as for durge's birth, i've pictured it as its a creature hand crafted from bhaals flesh. he gets other bodies and uses his blood to fuse it all together to make something new! very frankenstein-esque but not really? its why rue is a wild magic sorcerer - the magic in bhaals blood doesnt translate into a normal humanoid form so its erratic and unsteady!!

rue is also formed as a toddler with some basic understanding of what to do with a body so it speeds up his process of getting her to destroy the world!

I wanna say that something I really appreciate is how good the prompts are for this! There's an art to making a good prompt list that isn't too vague or too specific and I think you hit the nail on the head. All of the prompts are immediately inspiring while also giving a good amount of room for interpretation.

ah thank you!!! :'D as someone who gets overwhelmed when prompts are either too vague or too specific i really tried to get a nice blend of both while offering two that felt as if they're on different sides of the same coin but could easily be paired together!! (someone on twitter mentioned that battle / party, for example, could be interpreted as a political battle at a party and i thought that's such a cool way of using both!)

i'm very glad the prompts are a hit, this is my first time running any sort of prompt-based event and i had a huge list that i kept scratching out ideas because they didn't feel right. i'm very happy on what i settled with and i'm so happy other people are enjoying them!!

Aurora's a cleric of war, right? What god does she serve and how does she come into that path post-tadpole?

She is! I thought it was a fitting mix of "religious figurehead" and "brutal killing machine", marrying divine powers with physical fighting prowess that would be feared on any battlefield.

Pre-tadpole it was obviously Bhaal. She didn't have any other training or affinities for any of the other classes, so she relied mostly on her natural strength in addition to daddy Bhaal's gifts. She could have trained to become a wizard with her high INT stat, but her interests lied elsewhere (like medicine and biology).

I've talked about this a couple of times, and I'm still trying to figure things out 100%, but post-tadpole it's Lathander of all things. It started out as a "wouldn't it be fun if the god of new beginnings looked at Bhaal's devil spawn and thought "I can fix her"", and then it kinda evolved from there.

For now I'm playing with the idea that her adoptive mother was a worshiper of Lathander, and would pray to him about all the struggles she was facing with Aurora (she tried to be a good kid, but her bhaalist nature made her act out, and she struggled both emotionally and mentally).

This eventually caught the eye of Lathander, who is known to stick his fingers in plenty of pies in his crusade against evil. I just imagine that if he got the chance to fuck with Bhaal and whatever plans he has, Lathander would jump on that so quick.

It's also what I've been using as an excuse for Aurora's age; in Bhaal's weakened state, Lathander was able to fuck with his influence over Aurora enough for her to be well into adulthood before Bhaal finally got his claws in her proper. Most people seem to put Durge in their early 30s, but I see Aurora as being around 60-70 at the time of BG3.

How does this all fit in with Jergal and his whole thing? I have no fucking clue, and I'm honestly tempted to just ignore it since we're not getting a continuation on BG3 anyways. My city now I guess. (Which means I'll keep thinking about until the end of time and never settle on anything lmao).
