@onepartbrave liked for a starter!
He was still struggling to adjust to his new way of seeing the world but he’d finally felt as though he was ready to return.
His tribe was settled, its new leader decided and Maru’s obligations were fulfilled. It was time to return to Garden and reunite with the man he’d missed terribly since Squall’s return to Balamb Garden ahead of him.
The train from Galbadia back to Balamb felt like it took an eternity, one spent with sweaty palms and a heart that raced only faster as the train came to a stop in Balamb station.
Would Squall be there to meet him? Would he get a chauffeur back to Garden in a frivolous display of abusing Garden’s funds, just so that he’d get back to Squall more quickly? Or would he have to make his own way?
While the ragged scarring over his right eye was yet hidden beneath clean, white bandages, the absence of sight on that side meant that driving himself was out of the question and his ability to fight was still dubious at best so if he walked, he’d have to remain on the road and hope no monsters decided to get too close. It was a problem to consider later though.
His heart felt like it was in his throat as he stepped off the train and cast his altered gaze across the platform, hoping against hope that he’d lay eyes on brunet hair and eyes the colour of stormy skies.
