Modern Mama Beef Loaf
May is Beef Month! I'm celebrating on my blog today with my Modern Mama Beef Loaf recipe. #mayisbeefmonth #beefmonth #beefrecipe #beefloaf
Today is the start of May is Beef Month, so what better way to celebrate than with one of my favorite beef recipes! Today, I’m making for you my version of meat loaf. But we can’t call it just “meat” for Beef Month, so I’m putting a twist on this one with my Modern Mama Beef Loaf. What is my favorite cut of beef? Ground beef. Not steak or roast? I love steak. Roast is my jam for Sunday dinner.…

Governor McAuliffe proclaims May as Beef Month in Virginia
Proclamation recognizes one of the Commonwealth’s most significant agricultural industries. Has Gov. Daugaard named a day after you yet?
What’s a guy got to do to get a day named after him? Not much, evidently.
A caller – I didn’t catch the name – informs me two Patrick Henry music teachers will be honored at the school Friday with a proclamation from the governor.
Oh my, a proclamation from the governor? Sounds like a big deal. They must have done something incredible. Saved a drowning child, perhaps.
Turns out no. You can read the proclamation here:
A check to the Secretary of State’s web site shows Gov. Daugaard has issued 132 (!) proclamations this year. We’re 116 days into the year, so that’s about eight per week.
Each proclamation means another name or cause on the calendar, from Jerry Prostrollo Day and the Days of Remembrance to Cowboy Poetry Week and Caffeine Awareness Month.
My caller told me there wasn’t much work behind Sue Sharpe and Lon Semansky Day. He sent a letter to Daugaard and received a proclamation in return.
The caller said he wasn’t sure if the governor was going to be at the school on Friday. I’m guessing not.
After all, the governor has a big month coming up. I call it May, but you can call it Beef Month, Drug/DWI Court Month, Water Safety Month, Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month, Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month, Electrical Safety Month, American Stroke Month, Noxious Weed Control Awareness Month or Lupus Awareness Month.
