Indulge in a savory and satisfying Paleo-friendly snack with this homemade beef jerky recipe. The combination of coconut aminos and flavorful spices gives this jerky a delicious, smoky flavor without any artificial additives. Make a batch for a convenient, protein-rich snack option.
Ingredients: 1 lb 450g lean beef such as sirloin or flank steak. 1/4 cup coconut aminos. 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar. 1 tsp smoked paprika. 1/2 tsp garlic powder. 1/2 tsp onion powder. 1/4 tsp black pepper. 1/4 tsp sea salt. Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.
Instructions: Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. In a bowl, combine coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, sea salt, and red pepper flakes if desired. Place the beef strips in a resealable plastic bag or glass container and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. Preheat your oven to 175F 80C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a wire rack on top of a baking sheet to allow for better air circulation. Remove the beef strips from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange the beef strips on the prepared baking sheet or wire rack, making sure they don't overlap. Bake in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until the beef jerky is dried and slightly crispy. You can test its readiness by bending a strip; it should crack but not break. Once done, remove from the oven and let the jerky cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Enjoy your homemade Paleo beef jerky as a protein-packed snack or on-the-go treat!
