You’re way too defensive of Maria and you know I love you but you just spent your entire answer laying all responsibility on Alex and none on her. She starts by saying the museum guy “is back” for Alex Bc HES hopeful again. Then she says “it’s not like you’re hooking up with Wyatt Long or Michael Guerin” (current terms not past terms) then “please tell me you’re IN LOVE WITH Wyatt Long”.

Like she knows Alex is IN LOVE WITH Michael now. Even if she doesn’t know the full depth of their relationship (which to be honest, is as much Michael’s fault bc he totally downplayed him and Alex). If Alex had said “Michael and I have been in love for ten years”, he would’ve just been hated more lbr.

I have been debating even replying to this, because honestly, I don’t like the idea that no one is allowed to defend Maria for her choices, or point out the mistakes Alex made, without somehow “laying blame” on Alex. And that is a pervasive and constant thing in certain parts of this fandom right now - Alex is a delicate flower who needs protection, and Maria is a [insert choice words for a horrible person here]. Alex made mistakes, Maria made mistakes - every character on this show fucks up, which is something I say time and time again in regards to one of the reasons I love this show. Because no one is perfect. They are all messy and flawed and they all fuck up. And we can go on and on about character interpretations, but my reply dealt very much with what we see in canon on-screen.

Someone being “in love” with someone else does not mean those two people are in a relationship, and in fact, Maria does not jump immediately into one with Michael. Michael repeatedly confirms that there is nothing between him and Alex throughout several episodes. Maybe Maria should have also checked with Alex but Alex also never told Maria anything else beyond that he was in love with Michael. There is no mention of Alex’s intentions or if he and Michael are trying for something now that Alex is back in town. Friendship is a two way street, and they both fucked up here. But I don’t see many people talking about how Alex could have cleared things up for her (which I mentioned in my original answer), I just see a lot of people talking about how Maria needs to grovel at Alex’s feet. In fact, I also see people attacking Liz for daring to even talk about Maria to Michael in 2x02 when she knows nothing about Alex and Michael outside the brief mention from Maria in 1x13. 

If Alex is allowed to be selfish and think that he can have Michael just waiting whenever he is ready (which Michael points out in 2x01, and is why Michael’s “no” is so important to the growth of Malex both as individuals and together), is Maria also not allowed to be selfish and be with the guy she likes, who is there for her, who keeps showing up for her?

And I’m not sure how Michael downplayed their relationship, since Alex broke up with him twice, in 1x03, and 1x09. And as far as Michael knew as of 1x09 / 1x10, Alex had no intention of wanting to be in a romantic relationship with him. Remember the whole “same page, different book” analogy? Alex says he wants to start over to work toward them being together, but that’s not what Michael hears - Michael hears that Alex only wants to be friends, that they are very much over. So Michael is trying to move on from Alex, just like he thinks Alex wanted. There’s nothing for Michael to downplay, because Michael believes Alex doesn’t want to be with him.

Alex grew as a character a lot during Season 1, and it’s amazing to see the difference in him. But he still has a lot of growing to do, particularly when it comes to romantic relationships. Michael was somewhat of a crutch for him (the same way Alex was a crutch for Michael), something he could always fall back on, and that has led to Malex’s unhealthy patterns that needed to break. Malex can’t move forward, can’t work toward being together, until they stopped that unhealthy dependency on one another.

Demanding more of our queer stories for me definitely includes “don’t make the only same gender ship on your show the one that just can’t work out when the whole reason they were torn apart to begin with was because of a homophobic hate crime inflicted upon them”.

Now hang on a minute. Max is literally dead (kind of. sort of. but definitely not around). Noah is an abuser and literally dead. Kyle and Liz are definitely Not A Thing. Even Maria and Michael aren’t exactly running off into the sunset right now. Alex and Michael are hardly the one that just can’t work out. Like, none of these people’s love lives are working out right now. 

Plus, just because they both experienced that horrific hate crime...that’s not the only thing that’s kept them apart. Like, there’s a whole lot of baggage written into that relationship.

Some of y’all have gotten it into your heads that there is The One Right Way to do queer representation and it’s honestly tiring.

I’m not attacking Michael or blaming him at all. I just get tired of Carina so blatantly favoring him to the point that Alex (and Maria for that matter) are never going to get their stories told in the same empathetic light. Some of the stans are ott about it though and throw blame the other way too hard. But I think that’s where the frustration stems from.

Yes, I too would love to see Carina favor Alex a little more, and show some of Michael’s fuckups. Michael is clearly Carina’s darling. But the over-the-top compensation and complete rewriting of canon to make Michael the one and only bad guy because pure angel Alex has done nothing wrong ever is not only infuriating, it’s disturbing. Fun fact: even if you’re an abuse victim, how you treat other people is still on you. I’m tired of this complete and utter baby-ing of Alex, who is a precious angel and a victim of his father’s abuse and therefore how dare he be held responsible for his behavior. Alex stans take their stanning so far that they take away any and all of Alex’s actual agency to make him the victim and the whumpee and I’m tired and bored and annoyed and just so done. 

And no, I don’t want to argue about it. Yes, they’ve both fucked up. Yes, they both have agency. Like I said, I’m not interested in litigating who did what wrong and who was “more” wrong and who was more of a victim.

Austin is the most comical and light hearted remake, but i feel the dance team is so random still and im not sure what it added to s2

España has an amazing girl squad, but i don't like their soundtrack

Druck has Matteo 💛, but it also has Mia 🤮

Wtfock more like wtf is up with the hate crime that they never addressed it, but man lil nas was iconic

France hates women and black people and their s3 is overrated af. I love Arthur.

I want you to know that you’re the main reason I finally pushed myself to watch wtfock last night (and just finished SKAM France just a few minutes ago) because I’ve been seeing Sander and Robbe here. Well, guess what? I AM DEAD. BITCH I AM LIVING FOR SOBBE. Jfc. SKAM France was wonderful but WTFOCK. Belgium did absolutely AMAZING with the wonderful Robbe and Sanded, holy freaking crackers. My eyes are still swollen from crying and laughing. THANK YOU because I’m re-watching it again tomorrow.

You cannot understand how much my heart is swelling right now with love and excitement. The sobbe love must be shared with the entire world. Look… I have been a fan of the Skamverse since 2016 and have watched all the remakes. The Isak/Even season is always the one that I love the most of course. But Wtfock changed the game for me. It’s the One that took me from being a fan and somewhat active during airing seasons of Skamverse to OTP OBSESSED. They are simply everything. The soulmate love story to end all love stories will be the death of me. Their chemistry is unlike pretty much anything I’ve ever seen on screen, and that includes malex, and that’s really fucking saying something because you all know that I am obsessed with malex, their relationship, and their chemistry, and that I acknowledge how rare it is to get that connection on screen. For a pairing to top THAT??!! You better fucking believe that they’re special, never been seen before, one in a billion. They stab you in the heart and eyes and brain with FEELS MOTHERFUCKER!!!! And yeah as much as I’m looking forward to Yasmina’s story, I’d be lying if I said my biggest anticipation wasn’t about sobbe. It is. It ALWAYS is.

How I feel about this character

I wasn’t really an active Jesus fan on the show, but he seemed to be cool and thoughtful. And very capable. I feel like they started to properly explore him around the same time I started distancing myself from the show for other reasons, so I probably missed a lot.

I could have maybe shipped him and Aaron (if it weren’t for Eric being the love of Aaron’s life), but, tbh, this show needed more explicitly gay characters.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Definitely Aaron. I only saw gifs of their friendship, but it looked awesome. Daryl. Tara.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I mean, that I didn’t ship him with Daryl probably? A lot of his fans seemed to ship that ship and I never did. Idk, I didn’t have horribly strong feelings about him, which maybe sucks, but *shrugs* Again, I took quite a break from the fandom.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Okay, Kelli, you know my rage over the Bury the Gays bullshit this show engaged in. So I wish they wouldn’t have done that. Just let him live, maybe let him find an awesome boyfriend. Let him continue to be badass and capable.
