episode1: love — soyoon

i loved her first solo album and i have been ecstatic by how much love this album has received because her skills as a songwriter just grew exponentially. what a suave, confident and powerful album. 'till the sun goes up' and 'canada' - the duality of a woman...i'm in love.

dipuc — cacophony

if you're not up to cacophony discography, i would highly recommend this album. from the first track, it was like she's immediately tucking you into her coat - crooning you an intimate sonic odyssey. the run from 'Lean Your Body On Me' to 'End' had me screaminggg. for the season, the track 'Christmas' is gorgeous.

notwitzki — beenzino

dammit...he's still good. beenzino's technical prowess has not slipped since his last release and while i was ready to be punched in the gut, this was a surprisingly tranquil listen. truly just an album perfect for a relaxing night drive with the boys, the girls, and the theys. 'Travel Again' and 'Change' are standouts to me.

pat pat — risso

if you don't find one track you can't groove to on this, you may be entitled to legal compensation. a citypop album i can't get enough of during the summer. the disco track 'SPF' and smooth r&b 'daydreamer' should've hit them to the mainstream stratosphere. it's soooo unfair how they don't have a romance kdrama ost under their belt already.

love pt. 2 — colde

starting out with my number one spotify wrapped artist. what else is there to stay...impeccably engineered k-r&b album with solid bops, an underrated featuring track ('heartbreak club' is the best track of the year to me - the reggae influence, the smoothest beat switch of the album, chan hyuk's 2000s flare rap line delivery), and a surprise cover of a korean indie classic.

sichimi — sumin

a chill, downbeat album to wind down after a long day with an ending that makes you wanna go back to the start. listen to this album just for 'Closet' where sumin and uhm jung hwa are just trying to out queen each other. obsessed.

zip — zion.t

it's been 5 years since his last release that i actually yelled when i saw the notification he released a music video because i wasn't expecting it all. as a long time fan, i loved the evolution you can see from 'oo' with the detour at 'zzz' culminating on this album. witty, eccentric and earworms galore, it's so solid. the lil ditty 'stranger' and the sweeping 'the things i love' (kim hae sol, you don't give me both a jazz solo and a choir in a track and expect it not being my immediate favorite) are gorgeous.

machine boy — silica gel

amazingggg rock album - i was blown away by the first track alone. you know they'd go so hard at concerts. also shoutout to 'machineboygong' for being a nine minute masterpiece which i recommend for you to listen at least once. it'd be remissed not to mention their latest album 'power andre 99' is astonishingly excellent as well.

no one can hunt me — joonie

my favorite experimental album of the year. if you're into electronic, this is a great listen. moody, dystopian, warped tracks that only spiral downwards to isolating madness. it's only four tracks and my fave constantly changes.

The second studio album by rapper Beenzino and his comeback after 6 years, NOWITZKI is named after the legendary German NBA player, Dirk Nowitzki. The album’s cover art, however, features Beenzino’s German-origin wife and muse, Stefanie Michova, who he got married to in August 2022. Beenzino mentioned that the album was originally meant to be named 'Stefanie' after his muse, but was afraid that if people didn't like the album, they would say "Ah, Stefanie wasn't that good (of an album)' so he decided to put the burden on Nowitzki instead (LOL). But, to him, the album is titled Stefanie, since she "took up so much of my headspace".

Beenzino mentioned that his album is like a journal of the past 6 years, with each entry being a journal entry of different times in his life. For example, Track 12 Camp is an entry about his life in the military, and Track 11 Crime about meeting his wife for the first time.

I do feel they both care and love each other, but I do sense that Beenzino at this time loves Stefanie more. Sometimes his love for her can be too overbearing and possessive. Beenzino gets easily jealous, despite his "cool" or nonchalant attitude. He's actually quite sensitive towards others' feelings and can sometimes read too much into things. He tries to act like he's totally all right with Stefanie hanging out with certain people or just doing her own things, but in reality, he isn't. I do see him trying to give her space and distance because Stefanie values her freedom and independence a lot.

The way he wants to receive love versus the way she gives love/care is very different. Stefanie is very much the sort that is more nonchalant and in some ways ignorant of others' feelings. She can often say things without thinking and come off as rather ignorant or rather offensive. She thinks she's just being truthful though. She also isn't really the sort to be always clinging by Beenzino. She doesn't need that much constant attention from a partner. She doesn't see love as everything in her life and certainly doesn't want to always be known as Beenzino's wife.

I do feel that she feels a bit caged in this marriage. Career wise I sense she feels a bit stunted because a lot of times people are just curious about her and Beenzino and their relationship, not really are interested in what she really has to offer. She doesn't want to have to rely on her marriage as the highlight of her career, yet she knows that that would likely give her some success. I do feel like over time Beenzino seems to be more and more possessive, jealous, and controlling. I think some parts of it comes down to insecurity and some of it is because like I said Beenzino isn't getting the type of love he wants. Beenzino is the clingy type and requires a ton of attention and showering of love through affection or praise. While Stefanie is affectionate physically, she's not really the type to constantly praise nor is she type to cling onto her spouse. She needs much less umm time spent together than him.

Also during the period where the two had to be away from each other (I think bc he was in military?), Beenzino got more anxious and scared of losing her. I think he felt like she would cheat on him or dump him because she couldn't wait for him. Beenzino also had some picked up some signals/messages from her or from mutual friends about Stefanie that made him feel that she was moving on from him.

I do see that they have some chances of divorcing later on if Beenzino keeps being insecure and keeps being possessive/controlling. His need to control her will likely become greater over the years. If he restricts who Stefanie sees/hangs out with, then Stefanie will be very upset and bothered. I also do see that there are some cultural differences between them that are kind of hard to resolve and some family matters like differences in thinking/ways of doing things. I don't get the sense that Beenzino's family is very fond of Stefanie; they find her ok but they feel like he could do better and is suited for someone else. Stefanie's a bit too wild in their eyes.

I just get the sense from Stefanie that she feels Beenzino has changed and is becoming way too controlling like what happened to the man she fell for? She wants to do a lot of things but then Beenzino will tell her she can't do that or if she does, it won't be successful etc. Sort of put her down in a way and not be supportive? Restrict her... I think she does feel in a way caged and really doesn't like that. She's also very close to a few guy friends and she doesn't think there's any romance between her and them, but Beenzino questions that. He feels like those guy friends want to sleep with Stefanie. Again, Beezino really dislikes some of Stefanie's friends who happen to be celebrities. He thinks they are very cringey and are a bad influence on her and will bring her trouble.

Word on the street is that Taeyang will be appearing on variety show The Manager and is to be joined by Daesung, Go Kyung Pyo, Joo Won, and possibly Beenzino: members of "gunbang" (military bang), who served together in the army and performed as a celebrity team at the Korean Ground Forces Festival in 2018. It's said that they've remained friends to this day and still meet up and have meals together. Supposedly a crew member spotted them while filming for the show; they weren't able to take pictures but got some autographs 👀
