I just came back from SMC at eindhove. What an amazing experience. somany talented painters, sculptors and enthousiasts. everybody is so open and friendly. comments like "You like that model? Here, grab it so you can have a better look" weren't uncommon. There were so many awesome pieces. The organisation also has immens trust in it's visitors, because the competiton pieces aren't stored behind glass! I was kinda bummed out not being able to attend Essen Spiel this year, but being able to see the golden demon entries at 5cm from your own nose makes me not even care anymore. I have like 2 Gb worth of pics of fantasy and scifi work alone, so it'l take some time to proces those photographs, but hope to show you guys a selection by next week. Seeing all thos magnificint pieces also puts your own work in perspectif. There is still so much to learn and room to grow, but it also inspires a ton. I have so many idea's I'ld like to create. I also had the pleasure of following a sculpting workshop by Gautier Giraud. you can see the result. it's kinda rough, but we only had 3 hours and it was the very first time I sculpted something from scratch. Quite daunting, frankly, but it just seems so cool to be able to manifest your ideas and concept in actuel 3d space. I really wish to be able to do that. I highly recomend it and I'm pretty shure I'll return next year.
