Hey ghouls! Let’s turn on the juice and see what shakes loose! Unfortunately, Luna was unable to accompany me yesterday to NYC, and I am also aware that I’m a little late to the game, but I just had to share with all of you my experience. First, Beetle House! What a fun little bar and restaurant. The place is like a long hallway. If not for the skeleton perched on their sign you might miss it driving by. However, for the size, they have quite a bit of awesome Tim Burton related art and decor. The music selection naturally matches the aesthetic like an alt/punk Halloween playlist and lighting comes mainly from Halloween and rotating color lights, so needless to say I felt right at home. The menu is a little on the pricy side. It is a fixed menu, one appetizer and one entrée for $40. But there are plenty of vegan options, and the food was delicious. The Sweeney beef came on a “bloody” dish with a straight razor over the top and the Edward Burger-Hands came with a scissor through the top. They also have some of their specialty drinks in “virgin” form for half the original price, so I was able to have “The Beetle’s Juice” and “Bio Exorcism”, both prepared with dry ice to give it a bubbly and smokey effect. Reservations are highly recommended and because of the popular demand, it may take a little bit to get one. It’s a bit of a toss up when the actors will and won’t be there, but when you catch one, they are spot-on in performance. Edward Scissorhands trimmed my hair and tried to pour drinks for the guests, never once breaking from the awkward motions and voice of the character.
