tumblr is best when you use it for inspiration not comparison
i feel like i have made a mistake i see plenty of others making too, so i just wanna point it out today, that even though tumblr is a GREAT way to get inspired to attain better fitness, fitblrs are not* strictly meant to be a primer for how beginners should act or do- right off the bat. (i mean this in terms of fitness behavior!! -not attitude. which overall, i have to applaud that most of the fitblr community are wonderfully focused on a healthy mindset). but anyway, here's me getting off topic a little. so. i'll just start by explaining something about myself... that laughably happened because of my rookie mindset. i have only been seriously jogging for over a month and a half now. i mostly follow fitblrs that do weight training, cross fit and a few running blogs here and there. i go to the gym with my bf/gym teacher during the weekend so i don't have much guesswork in that arena- since i just get to ask him weight training things without feeling like a bother- but running on the other hand is something i knew/know almost NOTHING about (besides talk of crazy PR's [personal records] i'd seen off of the few XC running blogs i started following to get my toes wet in the area)... i know that many of you probably realized right off (if you were new to a hobby and using tumblr as a way to get initiated)- that it's best for motivation really and not as as material for comparison/ a primer for how you ought to do something. but speaking for myself š¬, in my total newness and isolation in regards to starting up jogging- i did the lazy thing and turned to tumblr blogs as a semi bible for what to shoot for in my mileage. And here is my point just to really drill it home, that (fitness) tumblr reallllly just works best for MOTIVATION, and, for finding like minded people. it doesn't show you what to expect necessarily in terms of physical set backs or proper methodology. if anyone who follows me is interested in some of the big (jogging) tips i've already learned about from experience and feels like an even bigger baby jogging beginner, feel welcome to start up a chat in my inbox. by pushing myself to limits i'd seen elsewhere off of fitblrs/overall just overdoing it this past week- i worked up a nasty case of tendonitis on the lateral (outer edge) of my femur šŖ which may slow my progress a bit... and even though i am absolutely not an expert here... i am very open to discovering/(going through trial and error more likely :P) with anyone else that's eagerly getting started on their health journey. *or, even if you just wanna laugh over stuff or be buddies to cheer on about going to the gym/jogging or staying motivated with a healthy mindset... i'm 100% down
