Samhain pt. 4 - Crystals.

The following crystals will be beneficial to use on Samhain whether for their relationship to Samhain or for their power to assist in divination and psychic awareness.

Labradorite: A great crystal to use to strengthen your intuition & psychic abilities. Since it will also be a full moon, it ma be beneficial to use labradorite as it does have correspondents to the moon. 

Bloodstone: can be used to assist in divination.

Black tourmaline: Not only a great stone for protection, but it is also great for repelling negative energy & thoughts. Black tourmaline is a great stone to utilize for psychic protection.

Obsidian: Powerful to use on Samhain & during your Samhain rituals. Obsidian is a great source protection and grounding energy. 

Smoky quartz: Can be used to communicate with spirits, absorb negative energy & aid in protection. Smoky quartz has also been associated with banishing.

Carnelian: This beautiful orange crystal will not only remind you of pumpkins but it is also said that Carnelian was once us ed to protect the dead while they passed on. Carnelian can be used for protection, to repel envy & so many other things.

Selenite: Not only is selenite a self cleansing & charging crystal, it is also an amazing tool for increasing psychic awareness & intuition.

Fluorite: Used to increase psychic awareness.

Magickal Trances

The will can only become magickally effective when the mind is focused and not interfering with the will.  If an attempt is made to focus on some form of desire, the effect is short circuited by lust of result.  Egotistical identification, fear of failure and the reciprocal desire not to achieve any result, arising from our dual nature to destroy. When selecting topics for concentration, choose subjects of no useful significance.  Object Concentration The ability to fix an evil eye can be practiced against any object, even just a mark on a wall.  This takes hours of practice.  Every attempt by the eye to distort, every attempt by the mind to think of something else, must be resisted.

Sound Concentration The part of the mind where verbal thoughts occur is brought under magickal control by concentration on sounds mentally imagined.  The chosen sound (any combination of syllables) is repeated over and over to block out all other thoughts.  Sound concentration is the key to words of power and certain forms of spell casting.

Image Concentration A simple shape (a triangle, square, circle, etc.) is held in the mind’s eye, without distortion, for as long as possible.  At first, the image should be sought with eyes closed.  With practice, it can be projected onto any surface.  This technique is the basis of sigil casting and creating independent thought forms.

hi there! i’m just starting out... but what if i don’t necessarily want to be considered a witch, but i enjoy the idea of creating sigils and spells and concoctions to promote health and well being for myself and people that i care about? where would you suggest i start? should i be coming up with my own sigils and spells and such? or using things i find from witchblr? thanks so much!

Hey! I personally try and avoid calling myself a witch as well, since my practice comes from the spirituality of my culture. You can call yourself a magick practitioner or an energy worker, but the easiest way to find groups, and resources will be to use keywords like ‘witch’, ‘pagan’, etc. I reccommend by starting with whatever you find most appealing.

I notice you mentioned concoctions for health and well being - you could potentially start with herbalism and green magick. Just be safe and don’t use plants you don’t know.

Best things to do on this Full Moon 🌕

- Charge your crystals!

Gather all of your crystal babies and place them under the full moon either outside our in your window seal. Speak to the moon and ask for your crystals to be cleansed of any negative energy they have carried & to charge them .

- Do some dream work.

Make a spell bag, set an intention before bed, drink psychic tea, etc.

- Make moon water.

Place distilled water underneath the moon light.

- Go the extra mile & add a crystal to make an elixir.

Make sure to do your research on safe crystals! Some sage crystals to use are rose quartz , quartz, citrine

- Write a letter to yourself or to someone that has been leaving you uneasy lately.

Write it all out on paper. All of your dislikes, your fears, your worries, all of it. Read the letter to the moon and feel the weight lifted off your shoulders. Burn it and let the wind carry the ashes away.

(USE CAUTION!!!! Bring a bowl of water just in case for proper discard].

- Create a list of your october goals.

- Make offering rocks & go get decorations for Samhain!

Samhain is Approaching!

We have 27 days of preparing before celebrating Samhain. I will be posting information that can be used for general knowledge & to help you prepare to celebrate.

Samhain will be a great time for you to focus on divination & scrying. Here is a short list of a few herbs that can help assist you in divination.

Divination herbs to use:

- aloe

- anise

- bay

- calendula

- camphor

- cinnamon

The following herbs will be great Hoodoo based herbs to use when working on divination. In Hoodoo these herbs can be used to receive omens & assist in divination.

In Hoodoo, the following herbs can be used to summon & contact spirits.

Sound Mapping.

This activity is so easy to do & it is so much fun! I recommend doing this at least once a week or as often as you can.

For this activity you will need a notebook and pen.

Go outside. Find somewhere comfortable to sit and be unbothered.

On your piece of paper, in the center write “me” and circle it.

Close your eyes and listen to all of the different sounds you hear.

Are they close? Far? How long could you hear them? Do you hear these things often?

Draw on the paper what you hear trying to organize them from nearest to farthest.

Do this for as long as you would like! Try to do it often.

Teach your kids to do it as a early meditation activity.
