Here’s How It Works…

The Game: Teachers vs Students

Rewards: Candy, Extra Recess, Gold Coins*

Rules:

1. Every time the class is behaving, they get a point

2. Every time they’re not, the Teacher gets a point

If the students beat the teacher they get a reward at the end of the day!

GOLD COINS: If I’m subbing for multiple days, I have them earn gold coins that they can return to me on the last day… The number of coins they earn = the amount of candy they can have

everything that i used to make this was either $1 or free; the frame, stickers, and paint was all from the Dollar Store and i designed the template on Canva for free

Do you ever have those students who literally only respond and are successful when your a strict, mean teacher? Like I try positive reinforcements, being friendly, redirection, and it doesn't work. When I use my mean teacher voice they immediately change. I hate feeling like a mean teacher but it's literally the only thing they respond to. Like I want them to be successful...it's hard.

Question from new dog owner! My aunt recently left us with her 11 year old boxer/lab mix which we now own. The dog had no toys when she came, so I bought her toys. I take her for a walk every day, and I give her enrichment on the weekend. (Chews, treat puzzles, etc) But she still decides to dig in the trash even though she knows it's wrong! She does it while we are at work too and I'm just not sure what to do about it.

So disclaimer I’ve only owned a dog for less than 2 years.  My advice comes from personal experience, my trainer’s experience, and other’s experiences on tumblr.

So my best advice is to not give her the chance to get into the trash.  Put something heavy on top of the can, put it up somewhere she can’t reach, put it in a cabinet, etc.  Essentially, if she can’t access the trash, she can’t dig through it.

Especially because it is happening while you are at work when you can’t correct the behavior, preventing it in the first place is the best and easiest option.

When I don’t want Sasha to eat from my plate when I get up, I move the plate where she can’t get it.  She can’t do the undesirable behavior if the opportunity isn’t there.
