Fall 2022 - Are you susceptible to pandemic-related anxiety?
Fall 2022 – Are you susceptible to pandemic-related anxiety?
Since the pandemic began, many have felt the effects on their mental health. The CDC reported in June that over 40% of Americans suffered an adverse mental or behavioral health condition, with anxiety and depressive disorders topping the list. By mid-July, 53% of U.S. adults said their mental health was negatively impacted by stress and worry due to the pandemic, according to a Kaiser Family…

“What you say flows from what is in your heart” - Luke 6:45.
This concept is so true, even when someone is doing all they can to disguise their true feelings and thoughts.
I know in today’s overly opinionated, overly-judgemental, overly-critical world, I think many of us try to watch what we say and do around specific people. I know I am always careful about what I say or how I say it, especially in the company of people outside my very small circle of trust.
I know there are people who will say anything to get approval, fit in or even just keep the peace. I tend to not say anything on some specific topics where my view might not be welcomed. I’m not interested in big debates on some topics anymore.
But even those people who say the nice-ities and are “kind” to our face, when they honestly feel different, their true feelings can be seen. I am someone who reads between the lines, which does get me in trouble sometimes. I’m also someone who pays attention to body language and tone. When you do that you can tell when someone isn’t speaking from the heart. Actions and speech patterns change.
There are people in my life that when they say nice things to me or when we do have to interact, their true feelings are completely transparent despite their seemingly kind words or “reassuring” comments that everything is fine.
Human emotion is intertwined in everything we do. When we are sad, happy, stressed, tired, upset, when we don’t like someone, when we like someone…that emotion will show itself in what we say and how we say it. Very few of us are that good of actors. What’s in our hearts, will show through, no matter what kind words or actions you use.

People who blame you/others for their shitty behavior are gaslighting.
This is a dangerous behavior in which the person convinces you/others of being delusional/crazy/to blame. If someone exerts this behavior, run.

My Mom Repeats Herself, But She Doesn’t Have Dementia
Understanding Dementia I care for two parents with dementia and in many conversations I have someone share “My Mom repeats herself, but she doesn’t have dementia.” I started in the same place several years ago. You just notice something is different, but you don’t know what it is exactly or what, if anything, you can do about it. I noticed that my mom would repeat herself, and my Dad was less…
