no but literally society if it was the ruby and bela show. did they ever actually get to meet on screen?? bela was only in season 3 which looking back seems so wrong but yeah she was ONLY in the shortest season of the show before they fridged her. she should’ve at least gotten to meet ruby 1.0, I can’t remember if they ever got to meet in canon.
ANYWAYS in my head they did get to meet in canon, they got brunch and talked shit about the winchesters and then they hooked up afterwards. not for any deal just for fun. we just didn’t see it because it wasn’t relevant to sam and dean’s story
Femslash February | Day 2: Sunsets
The airport was bustling with people, it always was around summer. Ruby held her bag close to her chest. Tension pulled her shoulders tight, and she wondered how Bela could stand there so calm and collected.
"I still don't get why you wouldn't let me zap us there," Ruby muttered. Bela rolled her eyes and reached up to stroke her fingers through Ruby's hair.
"Travelling is half the fun of it," she smiled. "Besides, I adore first class planes. Plenty of room if you want to join the mile high club." She raised her eyebrows, a sly grin tugging at her lips. Damn, if Ruby could resist that temptation. She pulled Bela close and kissed her quick, much to the dismay of some soccer mom stood nearby. Humans; so judgemental.
The plane was more spacious that Ruby could have imagined. Travelling in the back seat of the Winchester's car had never given her the leg room her vessel needed. Even Bela's hybrid was too small. The plane though, each seat was the size of a small office. Bela pointed her to their little booth, the love seat that fell back into a bed should they need it. It was luxury. Maybe humans weren't completely useless.
"You like?" Bela asked. Ruby hummed, wrapping an arm around her girlfriend.
"Where are we going again?"
"Greece," Bela said. Her fingers were tangled in the soft cotton of Ruby's shirt. "I can't believe you've never taken the time to watch the sunset. It's a beautiful thing, but you'll appreciate it more if we watch in from the balcony of our private villa."
"Hey, I was in Hell for years. The sun don't exactly shine down there, you know?" Ruby teased, but she immediately regretted it. With her ten years coming to a close, Hell wasn't something that was usually brought up between them. Ruby pulled Bela close, her lips pressed against Bela's fragile skin. "We'll find a way out of it, Bela, I promise."
They both knew Ruby's promises were empty, made out of desperation rather than what they could promise.
Bela refused to let in dampen their trip. The whole flight, Ruby held her tight as if letting go meant losing her forever. There was nowhere for them to go beside the narrow aisles or the bathroom. It didn't matter; Bela Talbot was hers and Ruby needed those damn humans to know.
Ruby had to admit, when Bela was right, she was right.
The sunset really did look beautiful. Especially from the balcony of a Greek villa. The sun hovered over the ocean, the pastel sky reflecting on the gentle waves. It was almost as if Apollo and Aphrodite had conspired to put it there, to light up Ruby and Bela's hands as they entwined over the table. It was warm, not hot like Hell but a nice pleasant warm that made Ruby feel loved. In the few years she'd been out, she never thought she'd experience such nice feelings.
Then she'd met Bela Talbot. In half a year of whirlwind romance, Ruby had felt something she hadn't in years. It was almost like her heart was beating again. She couldn't help but stare into her love's soft eyes.
"What are you smiling about?" Bela teased.
"Just you."
"Are you getting soft on me, Ruby?" Bela asked. "A bit shameful for a demon, don't you think?"
"You're the one who flew me half way across the world for a sunset," Ruby replied. The grip on her hand tightened, and Ruby looked down to where they were joined. "I think that's just a bit sweet if you ask me."
Bela offered a watery smile, the light not quite reaching her eyes.
"I wanted my last real sunset to be a nice one, with the only person who's ever loved me," she sighed. Again with the deal. It wasn't right, Bela had barely lived her life. Ruby didn't have much time left to spend with her.
"I told you, I'll get you out of it," Ruby pleaded. "I have to, okay? We'll have so many more sunsets." And maybe Bela believed her, because she wiped her eyes and laughed and looked back out to the ocean. The sun had almost disappeared into the sea, and now it was Nyx's turn to bless them.
They still went to bed that night, devil's shoestring adorning every surface they could find.
sure, rubys here to recruit sam, but when bela walks in, steals the colt—jesus christ, again?— and saunters out without breaking a sweat ruby cant help but be impressed. sure, shes here for sam, but she just cant help but want her.
bela: what is it this time?
ruby: bela, wonderful to see you again! i know a way out of your deal, you just have to do something for me
bela: of course, theres always a catch with you people
ruby: ‘us people’? wow, didnt take you for a racist
bela: dont fuck with me, what do you want
ruby: say please ?
bela (grumble): please
ruby: well then. i just need the colt <3
bela: youre joking.
thinking about this belaruby au, thinking about bela and ruby being Queens of Snark and teaming up for their own benefits, maybe bela willing to give the colt to ruby if ruby finds a way to get rid of bela's contract PERMANENTLY (bc i really doubt killing the demon that you made the contract with is enough, i mean someone's gonna know she's getting away with it), bela and ruby speeding away in their car as they get away with shit, bela and ruby sharing little pieces of their past in their drives, bela and ruby forming comradery, bela and ruby starting to feel things beyond partnership, ugh them fighting to keep each other safe from hunters and the supernatural world, please.
The first time Bela meets Ruby she's cautions. Rightfully so, you wouldn't get far in her line of work without some common sense. Don't piss of a demon. Common bloody sense.
They keep "bumping into each other" as Ruby puts it, but you'd have to be an idiot to think the meetings were unintentional. The first few times Bela draws a gun on her, Ruby laughs, and Bela eventually tires of pretending like she'd actually pull the trigger.
Somehow they end up meeting for lunch, Ruby's strange fondness and fascination of fries takes them to one burger joint after the other, and Bela finally stops the teasing, as all Ruby ever does to acknowledge Bela's input is take an exaggerated bite of a new fry and then moan as though she'd just uncovered the meaning of life. Or, death. However that worked.
Eventually, things get even more complicated. A demon and a klepto, who figured that'd blow up in their faces? Probably both. Not that it mattered, because once they started it, the make out sessions in back alleys, the dark corners of clubs, even a closet once (so cliché, both Bela and Ruby would deny it ever happening) there was no stopping. "A demon shouldn't sleep with a human." Ruby tells her. But then she grins and continues, "But hey, what Lilith doesn't know, won't hurt her." She does know. Of course she does. Ruby comes over with dried blood on her clothes. "Assholes tried to drag me down under. Dickwads." Bela kisses her, and they silently agree to ignore Lilith's "warning" as Ruby calls it. Send her a big fuck you. Just as a statement. Because even when Bela knows she's being an idiot, her heart skips a beat whenever Ruby flashes her that particular grin, and her hands fist in blonde hair, to always keep Ruby right there. It's a problem, they know. A big problem for both of them. They're even cuddling, for fuck's sake. Cuddling is never a good sign. Ruby curls up like a cat, Bela notes, and smiles, because wasn't she always a cat person. They exchange hushed words of love, and Ruby swears she'll keep them both safe. She has her dagger after all, and they'll steal the Colt from the boys, get Bela out of her deal. Flee the country. But where can you flee where the devil won't find you? Neither of them care.
belaruby au where bela dives for sunken treasures to sell, and on one of her dives she encounters a mermaid with a ruby-red tail and hypnotizing eyes. the mermaid's name is ruby. she tells bela she's been watching her for a while and has a proposition for her. ruby's looking for a knife a fisherman stole from her, but she doesn't know if the knife went back to the sea when the fisherman's ship sank or if the fisherman took it back to shore. in return, ruby will find items for bela to sell, going deeper and staying down longer than bela can. ruby meets bela's boat at the surface every day. she talks with bela while bela gets ready to dive. at first they just talk about treasures and the weather, but eventually their conversations get deeper. bela learns that ruby is an outcast in her clan. ruby learns that bela is similarly alone. sometimes when they dive they don't even look for sunken treasure; sometimes they just swim around, holding hands, and ruby will show bela her favorite things about the deep. bela eventually finds ruby's missing knife, and though she's heartbroken because she believes this will be the end of their relationship, she gives it to ruby because she knows how much it means to her. ruby is dumbstruck at first, but she regains her head and pulls bela down into the water - still fully clothed - to kiss her breathless. ruby's lips are salty but they're warm and plush against bela's, and neither wants to break the kiss now that it's finally happened. to bela's delight, ruby doesn't back out of their agreement just because she has her knife now. bela tells ruby she's going to go away for couple days. ruby says it's fine, she has something she wants to do anyway. bela has a feeling ruby isn't telling her something, but bela isn't telling ruby something either, so she doesn't call her out on it. what bela didn't tell ruby was that she had enough money now - thanks to ruby's help she takes in double what she used to - to buy a houseboat, and that's exactly what she's going to do. she buys a luxurious one that has a large deck close to the water. when bela goes to their usual meeting spot in her new boat, ruby is nowhere to be found. panicked, bela dives down. she takes several trips but there's no sign of her mermaid. maybe ruby did back out. bela's heart breaks. little does she know ruby is cashing in a favor from the sea witch tammi. her tail splits into two very human legs, her gills that allow her to breath underwater disappear and her lungs start burning with a desperate need for oxygen. tammi gives ruby a brief kiss on the lips, and all of a sudden ruby is on a boat. she lays there, naked and gasping, for several minutes until a familiar voice exclaims from behind her. "oh my god!" bela pulls ruby into her arms and nearly crushes her with the force of her hug. it takes several minutes for bela to release ruby. "what the hell did you do?" ruby grins stupidly. "that place wasn't my home. i'd rather stay with you." they kiss and live happily ever after in their houseboat
