I hc they genuinely loved each other, but in the end they were heading in different directions and didn't work out. But by god, they loved each other - and though they're still good friends, I think England still feels a bit sad it didn't work out in the end. But also? If the circumstances had been different I actually think they could have worked out too - which makes it even sadder. ♥
